Muschamp is way too proud of his defense to be letting them win games at this point. Playing as a dominate defense works if you have 5 star talent at every position, but other than that it is all about points. Playing not to lose is the most uninspiring style of football and momentum is @ 80% of it when you are dealing with college athletes.  Muschamp's teams take on his persona from the top down and it is clear he micromanages the offensive philosophy. Muschamp needs to stay out of the offense and worry about his defense. I will say there is nothing wrong with running and throwing the ball 5 yards or less from the line of scrimmage...the problem is when you take 4-5+ seconds to do it. Jake was notorious for holding on to the ball too long trying to make something big happen. Meanwhile all the areas the defense is giving him are getting filled up because he takes too long. We need plays designed to have the ball gone on the last step of the QB drop (3, 5 or 7), keep the uptempo offense going downhill and keep the defense on their heels. Jake makes it easy for the defense to tee off on him too many times
No dam fire on his teams. He gets fired up pissed off etc. but the players seem not to.... Maybe it is no leaders to get that done. Can anyone name one?

He doesn't get fired up though. He looks lost and uncomfortable 90% of the time on the sideline. Almost every game under Muschamp the team has come out flat, uninspired and discombobulated (aside from the opening KO's returned for TD's)

First got here he would blast off and his short stay at Auburn before taking the Gamecock helm. Media jump on his butt for being to hot headed. But anyhow back to your point true he really looked lost at the post game Saturday. Had that daze look after you get hit by semi. Brad made that famous.

And promptly change QB's, always looking for an edge. Just take away Ole ball Coach last year. Just got tired of recruiting which at his age is understanding. So what he did for the program in between. Will not hold the last year against him.  Tell you the truth he really wanted out before that year. But he was talked into it by a few. No need to name names.

Unfortunately this is hand we've been dealt.

Honestly, most of us were trying to be optimistic about this hire, but I cannot see a way this ends well.

You simply are not a good coach if you get out-coached in the bowl game, have all off-season to fix things, then start the next season just where you left off.

I agree with all of this. I even attempted to reason the failure at Uf with all of the talking points but the reality is if you can't win at Uf you are not going to be able to get it done at SC. Muschamp is what he is, a once great DC who unfortunately doesn't have what it takes to be a HC. He does know how to get paid though lol

I agree with all of this.
I think he gets fired, but not this season unless things go off the rails.

I hope it's mid-season so we have time.....and I'm also open to letting one of our staff guys give it a shot.

In hindsight, maybe we should have given Shawn Elliott a year?

lol I thought about that and it's easy to say that now, especially after the win at ut...but I think there would have been serious blow-back had that happened. I do love Elliot's passion and attitude. I do not think he will be fired unless they win 2-3 games. I think Ray Tanner will ride this thing 1 season too long, again

:dollar-signs-and-cash-smiley-emoticon:  Champ  knows there is 22 million reason he will not be fired by the last day in Dec. That's what his buy out is. But anyhow just would be nicer if he can turn things around. Just to keep this class together and build on it. Double edge sword here.

The one thing that trumps a seemingly ironclad contract, however, is to be perceived as complacent and just letting a bad season happen.

I like Will and want him to succeed as a head coach and do it here, but perceived complacency is always a risk for a HC.

He'll likely have to with the buyout debacle.

Shawn might have been a dabo experiment....if he hired the right assistants and played cheerleader, he might have built something in a few years. We'll never know.

He had the entire offseason to do that (28-0). I don't see it happening.

The only way this gets turned around is Ryan Hilinski is another Connor Shaw.

If he doesn't turn things around soon he needs to go. If Tanner won't do it, he needs to go too. I was a Muschamp supporter but he has lost me. I don't think he has what it takes to get the job done, on the brightside, he wont be leaving the cupboards too bare.

Nail on the head!

I blame Champ!! Why because of all those alternative facts he created. How we improved on defense offense, how much better the talent is you know pumping sunshine up our ass!!  After the deflate. Sunshine had to go somewhere. Sorry guys just had to let it out. :eek:mg:

Are you sure about that?  We do have a transfer portal now, you know.

My biggest fear is that Muschamp leaves/gets fired and 15+ players end up hitting the portal.

He is a player’s coach.  Remember how many of his former players at Florida came to see him after our game?
