LB Kenneth Ruff 6'1" 240lbs of Fort Lauderdale, FL plans to release his top ten list on June 1st and two teams that will make the list are USC and Clemson. North Carolina will be a third. Ruff has nearly 30 offers. Some of the others are Kentucky, Cincinnati and Georgia Tech.
Ruff has been favoring USC and that remains the case. Gamecock recruiters Lorenzo Ward and Deke Adams have been by his school this spring. Ruff plans to attend the Gamecocks’ camp on June 12th.
“The staff, they welcomed me and they like my game, they know my weaknesses and my strengths,” Ruff said. “I can see myself playing in that program. And my family, they love South Carolina.”
Ruff did not rule out the possibility of a commitment while at the USC camp but he said he might wait until he takes his official visits in the fall to make a final decision.
Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables was also thru this spring to check on Ruff and the Tigers have his strong interest as well.
“I just found out they were leading on defense (last season) and numerous other categories,” Ruff said. “You know, I’m a defensive guy. I love defense. That really stuck out to me. They are up there, too.”
Ruff said he might visit Alabama May 31st then he’s going on a college tour starting with Florida State June 9th. That tour will include other stops to USC, Michigan State, Arkansas and others.
Ruff said USC’s lead on the field is not by a wide margin.
“It will all go by the visit,” he said. He plans to work in official visits during his season on bye weeks and he said USC will be one of those visits.
