USC commitment DB Tavyn Jackson of Tallahassee confirmed Friday afternoon that he’s not totally shut down his recruiting and will take other official visits this fall besides the one with the Gamecocks. Jackson committed June 17th choosing the Gamecocks over Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and Central Florida. Florida State and Florida have also shown interest in him. He said he’s trying to set up visits with Central Florida and Oregon State.
Jackson said he still remains committed to the Gamecocks but he feels taking other official visits is an important part of the recruiting process.
“Officials are your last chance to see if you want to attend a school or is there something better out there,” Jackson said. I actually haven’t talked to Coach Muschamp about taking “other” officials. I think he’s a understanding man, but a coach as well. I’m not honestly sure. Hopefully he doesn’t have an issue to where I have to make a decision. I’m still open to better situations, but that doesn’t mean I’m looking for other schools.”
Asked if he still feels USC is the best situation for him currently, Jackson responded, “Yes I do.”
