USC commitments open up their recruitment

September 23, 2013

Class of 2014 WR Wesley Green and 2015 DE Arden Key of Lithonia, GA have decommited from USC. Citing Dwayne McLemore of GoGamecocks.com, their high school coach Cortez Allen confirmed the pair's decision. Allen told McLemore that the teammates, along with their parents, decided it was the best decision to open up their recruitment. According to the article, USC remains in play with to two Georgia products. However, Green told Kipp Adams of 247Sports later Sunday night that USC is not among his top schools any longer. He has set an official visit to Georgia for this weekend and list Ole Miss, LSU and Tennessee as the "other main schools." Green committed to the Gamecocks on June 21st choosing them at their time over Georgia, Clemson, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Key committed to the Gamecocks June 16th saying at the time, "I'm very solid, 100%. The only way I would decommit is a change in the coaching staff or some other school says something really crazy to get me to decommit." Some of his other offers are Clemson, Georgia, Arkansas, Miami, Ole Miss, LSU, Southern Cal and Virginia Tech. Green's decommitment leaves USC with 12 in the 2014 class, two in the secondary, and one of those, Darrin Smalls of Summerville, just tore his ACL. Key's decommitment drops USC's 2015 class back to five commitments.
