Troy Young
DB Troy Young (6-1 193) of Mobile, AL picked up an offer from USC earlier this month and he’s very interested in what the Gamecocks have to offer. USC defensive coordinator and secondary coach Travaris Robinson contacted Young about the offer after reviewing his film and Young got the feeling Robinson liked him a lot as a safety. And he likes Robinson and the Gamecocks.
“South Carolina is at the top of my list,” Young said. “Coach TRob likes how I come to the ball, how I move, my backpedaling. He said he was watching my film and wanted to offer me. The way Coach TRob was talking I feel like I have a chance to play there and make plays. That’s what I want when I go to college, to feel like I’m at home and to have a chance to make plays.”
While Young is high on the Gamecocks he’s not calling anyone a leader right now. He’s taking several visits this summer and is just coming off a trip to California. He also plans to get to USC, Alabama, Auburn, NC State, UCF and Arizona. He’d like to make his decision before the season. Some of his offers are USC, Mississippi State, NC State, Arizona, UCF, Louisiana Tech, UAB, Bowling Green and Toledo.
Last season Young had 60 tackles and 2 interceptions. He also plays running back and had 2000 all purpose yards. He was named all-state.
