USC picked up a commitment Thursday from 3B Travis Demeritte (6-1 185) of Statham, GA. Demeritte announced his decision on Twitter. It's been a long & hard decision but I finally made my mind up about where I want to go ! I am officially committed to the University of South Carolina ! Go Gamecocks!!!!! Demeritte is rated the #8 prospect in the country regardless of position and the top ranked third baseman in the country.

Travis Demeritte is a 2013 3B/RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Statham, GA who attends Winder Barrow HS. Long lean athletic build, good strength potential. Short easy right handed swing, generates plus bat speed, loose and easy out front, ball jumps, hit long game home run to left field., 6.89 runner. Quick defensive actions, very good arm strength, throws are accurate with plus carry, hands soft at the ball, top level defensive tools. Also pitched, long loose arm, 3/4's arm slot, fastball to 88 mph with good arm side run, curveball gets late sharp biting action with power, nice sink on change up. Top all around prospect. The Braves announced the signing of first round draft pick RHP Lucas Sims who was also a Clemson recruit. He is getting a 1.65 million dollar signing bonus.
