USC lands one of Georgia's best in DB Wesley Green

USC landed one of its top defensive targets Friday afternoon when 4 star DB Wesley Green 5'11" 170lbs of Lithonia, GA announced a commitment to the Gamecocks on Twitter around 1:30 PM. Green picked the Gamecocks over Clemson, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Georgia. "It's always a good time to be a Gamecock," Green said Friday afternoon a few minutes after announcing his pledge. "It feels pretty good to finally get this weight off my shoulders about my recruiting process and to finally be able to say that I'm a Gamecock." Green visited USC June 14th with his father and it was after that visit that he publicly identified the Gamecocks as his favorite.
"Me and my dad walked around and they showed us the academic facilities and my dad absolutely loved that because they want us to graduate and you have every resource that you need to graduate," Green said. "I also did my research on South Carolina, that it sells out games, and that's what I love. I love to see fans cheering us on." Green said USC had always been one of his favorites once his recruiting process started and in the end it wasn't a difficult decision for him. "Me, my brother and my dad sat down and we talked about the colleges, what they bring to the table and how they can help me in the future and we just decided South Carolina had everything that I've been looking for,"
Green said. "The coaches, the name of course and the school itself. It was just a good vibe that we also loved about it. So, South Carolina wasn't very hard to pick for me." Speaking of picks, Green has eight over the past two seasons and considers himself top be a shutdown corner.
"I'm confidant in my abilities," Green said. "Whoever comes in front of me I just know they are not going to do anything spectacular on me and I'm going to make sure that that quarterback fears my side. It's just going to be lockdown. I just bring a dog like mentality to whatever field I step on." Green becomes USC's sixth commitment for the 2014 class.
