USC O-line target TJ Moore pushes back decision reveal again
June 29, 2016
Offensive lineman TJ Moore’s back-and-forth over announcing a college commitment will continue.
Moore, of Charlotte, said Tuesday night that he’s decided to delay making his commitment to a school for a little while, possibly as long as a month.
This comes on the heels of Moore expected to announce a decision last week, then Monday saying he was set on a school and ready to contact the head coach with the commitment. That did not happen.
“I’m going to wait it out at last a month to see if I get more offers,” Moore said. “I talked to (USC offensive line coach Shawn) Elliott yesterday and today. I really don’t know (on a decision), that’s why I didn’t commit.”
Moore had said USC, Tennessee and NC State were his top three. He’s also been waiting to hear back from Alabama on a possible offer.
“My head coach talked to Alabama and I should get the offer pretty soon,” he said. “I’m just wanting on Alabama (before finalizing a decision).”
Moore was at USC’s junior day in February and was close to committing to the Gamecocks then. But his recruiting took off and more schools jumped in with offers so he opted to delay his decision. NC State pulled even with the Gamecocks in the spring and Moore visited State Saturday. He also went to Tennessee's spring game and that put the Vols in the mix as well.
Moore returned to USC for the cookout in April and has been in regular contact with Elliott. His Mallard Creek High teammate and fellow OL Eric Douglas committed to the Gamecocks in early April.
