**USC vs. Florida GAME #2 Thread**

Sorry about the late start went to the spring game.....

TOP 7 - Three up, three down for the Gators in the seventh. Jack Wynkoop pitching pretty darn well. Only allowed four hits and has three strikeouts through seven innings. Gets Mattson to ground out. Then a fly out, then a ground out to Arendas by Josh Tobias. Not a lot of solid contact here for the Gators. Carolina leads 3-0.

BOTTOM 6 - RHP Hanhold in to pitch for Florida. Bright fouls out to the first baseman. Caldwell hits a dribbler up the middle. Second baseman gloves behind the bag but can't get enough on the throw to get him. Arendas gives a fastball a drive to deep right field. I thought he got enough of that one to get it out, but didn't. Ball caught at the wall. Caldwell scrambles back to first base, but then he swipes second as English goes ahead in the count 2-1. Now 2-2. English lines an offspeed pitch that sat there belt high for him into left field for an RBI double. I still maintain he's done better with two strikes this year and with runners in scoring position. Gene Cone giving a good at-bat fouling off a few pitches with the 2-2 count. He ends up working a walk. Pankake walks, too, to load the bases. Mooney is first pitch swinging and hits a hard bouncer to short. Martin flips to Turgeon for the final out of the inning. Carolina leads 3-0

TOP 6 - Wynkoop issues a leadoff walk but after a quick visit from Jerry Meyers, the runner is erased on a 4-6-3 double play off the bat of three-hole hitter Richie Martin. Bader dribbles a single through the right side. Gushue pops up a 2-1 offspeed pitch to Martin at first base to end the inning. Carolina leads 2-0

BOTTOM 7 - Greiner goes down looking at strike three for the first out of the inning. Kyle Martin into the game and hits an easy ground ball to second base. Gushue misplays it for his first error of the entire season. That's pretty darn good. Bright up and he grounds into a double play to end the inning. Wynkoop back to the mound sitting on 85 pitches. Carolina leads 3-0.

TOP 8 - Reed drops a bunt single up the first base line, which will end Wynkoop's day after 86 pitches. Cody Mincey coming in. Want to get him back on the right track after walking his only two guys last night. Move backfires initially as pinch hitter A.J. Puk lines a double to left center. That scores a run. Turgeon with a ground ball to second. Moves the runner to third but there's one out in the inning now as Arendas makes the play. Martin dumps a soft single to right field. Joel Seddon going to be called in. Martin swipes second base to get the Gators out of a double play situation. Borderline 1-2 call goes against Seddon. Misses again and the count goes full. Gets Bader on a slider though. Couldn't check his swing. Gushue will be walked intentionally to set up the force at any base. Hard-hit ball back up the middle goes off of Seddon's leg. Ricochets to Arendas at second. Nowhere to make a play, but keeps the tying run at third base. Bases loaded for Alonso, who hits a chopper to short. Mooney fields and throws to first to end the inning. Made 'em sweat a little bit but works out. Carolina leads 3-2

BOTTOM 8 - Caldwell hits a soft liner to center for the first out of the inning. Arendas hits a slow roller to short. Beautiful charging play by Martin. He's got quick hands. English hits a single over the second base bag. Martin can't cut it off and even if he did, he wouldn't have had a play. Gene Cone up and facing LHP Bobby Poyner, who just entered the game. Cone lines a double down the right field line to put two in scoring position for Joey Pankake, who will be walked intentionally to load the bases. Marcus Mooney coming up for the second straight time with the bases chock full of Gamecocks. He faces RHP Ryan Harris, who gets Mooney to ground out 5-3 to end the inning. Joel Seddon heads back out there looking for his 10th save of the game. Carolina leads 3-2.

TOP 9 - LHH Zack Powers pinch hits and lines a first pitch single to right. Reed bunting. Ball gets away from Greiner. That's another passed ball for him. Two in as many games. Reed gets down a bunt with two strikes. Brings up Puk with one out and the tying run 90 feet away. Infield playing back, interestingly enough. Seddon pitches around Puk. Turgeon flied out to left field but it was deep enough to bring home the run. Cone was at normal depth in the outfield but didn't get much of a running start or much power on the throw. That's surprising from Gene-o. Pop fly to right by Martin ends the inning but it's tied up. Score tied 3-3

BOTTOM 9 - Greiner grounds out to short. Shift to pull on, Martin singles to short. I still will never understand why people play the shift on him. Bright goes down on strikes bringing up Elliott Caldwell as the last chance for the Gamecocks this inning. Going to extras as Caldwell fans to end the inning. Score tied 3-3.

TOP 10 - Seddon back to the mound. Not sure how much longer he can go after throwing 35 pitches or so last night. Bader grounds out and Gushue Ks. Seddon up to 46 pitches after those two at-bats. Mattson flies out to center to end the inning. Score tied 3-3

BOTTOM 10 - Three up, three down for the Gamecocks. A.J. Puk into pitch, so the DH is terminated for Florida. Arendas grounds out. English lines out to left. Put a charge into that one. Cone goes down on strikes. That was a really bad matchup for him. Score tied 3-3.

TOP 11 - Alonso goes down on strikes. Ball was in the drit from Seddon, so Greiner throws him out at first. Shafer grounds out 6-3. Nice play by Mooney there on the two-hopper back up the middle. Reed back up. Seddon makes it an efficient inning getting a ground out 4-3. Seddon at 55 pitches now. Score tied 3-3

BOTTOM 11 - Pankake hits a soft liner to center. Bader makes a diving catch running in. Nice play by him. Was playing deep to cut off anything to the gaps, I guess. Either that or he just likes to play deep. Puk throwing almost all fastballs here today. Walks Mooney on six pitches. Grayson Greiner up. Probably throw something bendy during this at-bat. Batters interference called on Greiner. Umpire said he stood in the way of the catcher as Mooney was trying to steal second base. Holbrook and Esposito both arguing. It was definitely close from my vantage point watching live. We didn't get a replay up here. Greiner is out, so two down, and Mooney has to go back to first base. Kyle Martin up and goes ahead in the count 2-0. Martin reaches out and touches a fastball to left field on a full count pitch. Runners on first and second for Bright. He's due. He faces new RHP Justin Shafer. Bright is first pitch swinging and pops up to Puk, who is now playing first base. Score tied 3-3.

TOP 12 - Joel Seddon back to the mound. I'm surprised he's back out there. Puk strikes out to start the inning on four pitches. First pitch pop out. Two quickies for Seddon. Slow roller off Tobias' bat to second base. Arendas makes the play. Score tied 3-3.

BOTTOM 12 - Caldwell grounds out 5-3 to begin the inning. Arendas with a hard ground ball to the left side. Martin makes a diving stop and almost throws to first in time to get Arendas. Not quite though. English up. He drops a bunt. Ball spins funny off the dirt. Pitcher can't pick it up cleanly and he doesn't have a play anywhere. Gene Cone up with two runners on base. One out. A.J. Puk, who was at first base after pitching, is headed back to the mound. Shafer is going to right field. Brison Celek will now pinch hit for the Gamecocks. Couple of 91 mph fastballs. Count is 1-1. Celek flies out to right field. Arendas tags and goes to third base. Winning run 90 feet away. First pitch swinging. Pankake grounds out 4-3 to end the inning. Score tied 3-3. Seddon back to the mound.

TOP 13 - It's been a really, really long day today. Seddon back out to the mound and gives up a first pitch single to right field. Not only was I surprised he came out this inning, I was surprised he came out last inning. Make that two singles to start the inning. Bader then Gushue. Meyers out to visit. He leaves Seddon in. Mattson tries to bunt the runners up but he can't get it down. Fouls off strike three. That ends it for Seddon. Taylor Widener comes in and promptly hits Alonso with a 90 mph fastball to load the bases with one down. Shafer up. He is first pitch swinging and hits a sac fly to centerfield. Scores the runner from third easily. Widener gets the last out of the inning on a fly ball to left. Florida leads 4-3

BOTTOM 13 - Puk back out to the mound. Goes ahead of Mooney 1-2 in the count. He hits a sharp two-hopper to second but Turgeon makes a semi-challenging play look really, really easy. One down. Greiner battling in the box. Fouls off several two-strike pitches. Puk just ramped one up to 94 mph. Greiner ahead of a 92 mph fastball. Fouls that off, then takes another one at 92 mph low. Greiner goes down on strikes. Kyle Martin up. He goes down in the count 0-1. Make it 1-2. He goes down on a curve ball in the dirt. Couldn't check his swing. Nicely done there by Puk. Tough loss there for South Carolina. FINAL: Florida 4 - Carolina 3. L: Seddon (1-1). The Gamecocks (28-6, 8-6) look to win the series at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday
