Javon Wims
WR Javon Wims (6-4 215) of Hinds JC, MS is a Georgia commitment who was recruited for the Bulldogs by then receivers coach Bryan McClendon. McClendon is now at USC and he will try this weekend to convince Wims that USC is every bit as good a place as Georgia. Wims is taking his official visit to USC thru Sunday and is interested in what McClendon and Will Muschamp have to show him.
“I’m new to Columbia so everything is going to be new to me,” Wims said. “I look forward to meeting the coaches and seeing the facilities.”
Mims visited Miami last weekend and has also visited UAB. He will visit Georgia next weekend so this is the Gamecocks’ best opportunity to swing him their way.
“You know if I’m taking a visit anything is possible,” he said. “I’m a hundred percent still committed but I told them I’m still going to take my visits and keep my options open.”
Last season Wims, a native of Jacksonville, FL, had 47 catches for 779 yards and 9 touchdowns. He actually played one season at Belhaven University under Hal Mumme before transferring to the junior college.
