Weekend recruiting updates (Saturday night)
01, 29/ 2017
LB Dax Hollifield of Shelby, NC was at USC Saturday. Gamecock recruiter Bobby Bentley was out to watch his basketball practice earlier in the week. Hollifield has made several unofficial visits to USC and has the Gamecocks high up on his list. He is planning to get out to Stanford in the next month.
OL Trey Hill (6-4 325) of Warner Robbins, GA attended Clemson’s junior day Saturday. He also visited Clemson last summer for a camp but this visit gave him a chance to see the new digs and get closer with the coaches. “Great to see the facilities and all that good stuff but most of all bonding with the coaches and getting a feel for the school and how the coaches coach,” Hill said. “Coach Caldwell is just a great guy on and off the field, a guy who can get linemen into the league and that’s something I’m looking forward to. Everything about Clemson is great.” Hill has nearly 30 offers at this point so he’s not sure where anyone fits. “The recruiting process is hectic right now. I haven’t visited that many schools.” He will go to Georgia and Florida State in February. USC also is one of his offers and he hopes to get there this spring or summer. And Hill said he did not grow up a fan of either Georgia or Georgia Tech.
Per GamecockCentral, Silver Bluff DE Devontae Davis is on an official visit to USC this weekend. Davis played in the Touchstone Energy North-South Game. The report said USC would like to place Davis in junior college.
TE Gavin Schoenwald of Nashville was at USC’s junior day Saturday.
2019 DB Jeremiah Gray of Charlotte was at USC Saturday.
Gaffney WR Dennis Smith did not make it to USC Saturday for family reasons. He plans to go to Duke and UNC in February.
WR Steven Gilmore Jr. of South Pointe did not make it to USC Saturday but plans to visit soon, USC is his lone offer.
LB Eli Adams of South Pointe did not make it to USC today. He plans to visit February 25th for a junior day.
DE Sean McGonigal Jr. of Myrtle Beach Friday signed preferred walk-on papers with USC. He had 19.5 sacks last season along with 30 tackles for loss and 89 total tackles.
PK Jack Driggers of Tallahassee committed to Duke. Had a walk on offer from USC.
USC offered 2019 WR Kameron Brown of Colleyville, TX.
