What are your top 3 changes you would like to see with the new head man?

Then it is just about who has the most money and who cheats the most. Football is important but it is still just a game - it ain't worth it.
I just don't get this mindset. Players get paid. They have for as long as people cared about college football. They get paid in the NFL. They are employees in both organizations.

Steroids are cheating.

Money is just fair compensation.

You can't really think that the best teams aren't decided by who has the most money, can you?

It's dilusional to think players aren't getting paid. Moreso, why wouldn't you want the people risking their lives and bodies to bring in millions of dollars each weekend not to get paid? If you want purity of the sport watch peewee or diii.

Some do. Not all. I have no problem with the NCAA moving to pay players ... but your view of why what happens now is OK doesn't fit with my version of why college sports are different, and better than the pros.

The new coach just needs to WIN  be able to get talented players 5 stars mostly  some 4 stars .

GET IT DONE WIN BABY WIN DON'T CARE WHAT WE LOOK LIKE JUST WIN

Want an successful program then let's mirror Clemson , as bad  as it is they are winning  just do what they have done.

I think it's pretty well established that college players get paid under the table. I've seen it at lower levels even.

Do you like college sports more because they are more abusive of the athletes? I don't mean to be rude but I don't know how else to interpret you thinking that it becomes worse if you acknowledge they are getting paid.

Sure you do - go ahead and own it. Not sure how in your mind acknowledging that rules are broken and some players get paid = "I like college sports because they abuse players." And while we can agree to disagree about how/if/why college players could or should be paid, you deciding to go full passive-aggressive makes the discussion sort of pointless to put effort into, TBH.

the only reason to support a rule is if you believe in it. do you think that college sports is good because the athletes don't get paid? when I say I don't mean to be rude it is not because I'm from the PNW, it is because I'm hoping that I was wrong in how I interpreted your fondness of college athletics.

All the talking heads on TV today talk about the "BRAND". If you look around you can see thing relative to certain schools more than others. What would our "brand" look like or sound like or be like? I guess sound like would be "Sandstorm". Provided we could create one with the new coach or build on our current brand, what is our current brand?

not paying the people who put their lives at risk so other people can become more rich is abusive.

  1. Get way better on the OL and DL.  When we were winning 11 games those 3 years in a row and beating the taters 5 years in a row, we dominated on the OL and DL
  2. Scheme - Offensive and defensive needs to improve big time
  3. Culture - I feel under Muschamp there was too much of the "Me" attitude and not team.  We can make fun of Dabo and his all in, but that team plays as a team.  Not saying there are no "Me" moments or players, but overall, they want to win as a team.

What part of "I have no problem with the NCAA moving to pay players" do you not understand?
It just rings hollow when you have no problem with change but also support the same unjust rule to the point that you think disobeying it would ruin what you like about the sport and would rather lose than pay players (without NCAA support). Maybe I'm reading you wrong and you are just a big proponent of the NCAA's governance?

Nailed it!

I think you've hit on it here, Ace.  The older I get, the more cynical I become.  I've seen too much corruption in my life to believe anything else.  It's always about the money, and people will do whatever it takes to get the money.

Kids play football in college to have a chance at the NFL to make money.

Colleges are there to make money.

Everything that happens at a game from apparel to concessions to tv coverage to parking is to make money.

Government is about money.

Churches, for the most part, are about money.

Charities, for the most part, are about money.

It's all about the money, and I think players should get their cut.  However, the problem is the same as now.  If you try to regulate it one way, someone will find a loophole or end around to cheat a different way.  We will never get rid of bagmen, boosters, and people hiring family, or whatever other ways they find.

Now I'm depressed.

This is all true. It doesn't become less true if we pretend that players don't get paid

When Spurrier came on board, he was shocked by the lack of team speed and immediately signed a few track guys.

I cannot remember hearing about any of our recent recruits also running track - might be time to start looking at the standings in the 100 meter dash in SC, NC, GA and FLA, see if any of them are also WRs or DBs.
Agreed, we need to find winners from good programs as well.

That's a great point.  It's probably part of the problem with our defense. It seems like in every game a receiver or running back just blows by our guys.  I had an old coach back in high school that made us all run track and I was a lineman.  We went 12-1 my senior year.
