What DE Kingsley Enagbare will bring to South Carolina

Earlier this year, South Carolina defensive end Kingsley Enagbare, who committed to the Gamecocks on Wednesday, was likened to Jonathan Allen, a first-round draft pick by Washington.
The Redskins landed the 2016 SEC Player of the Year from Alabama, where he was an all-conference selection in each of his final three seasons.
The comparison between Enagbare (6-foot-4, 257 pounds) and Allen was shared by Hapeville Charter (Atlanta) coach Winston Gordon.
“He’s the ‘3’ technique guy,” Gordon told Jeff Sentell of DawgNation. “That [former Alabama standout] Jonathan Allen-type that everybody is looking for in that 3-4 defense. He can compete at defensive end and the ‘3’ technique in the 4-3. There’s no doubt he can be a ‘3’ at the next level.
“He’ll be that guy who is the big defensive end in a 3-4 set and the ‘3’ in the 4-man front. His best football is yet to come. He’s a young player and he’s passionate about the game, and he’s going to give you his 110 percent every time.”
A “3” technique, for those unfamiliar with the terminology, is generally a defensive tackle who lines up on the outside shoulder of an offensive guard.
Georgia, one of the two primary contenders for Enagbare, wanted him to occupy a couple of different roles along its defensive front, not just tackle.
“They said I could be a strongside defensive end for the pass rush and sometimes they would put me at a ‘3’ technique,” Enagbare said. “I think I could do both. … I use my athleticism to get around blocks and to get through people.”
According to the 247Sports composite, Enagbare is ranked as the No. 21 strongside defensive end in the Class of 2018. Rivals lists him as the No. 45 overall prospect from the state of Georgia.
Decision forthcoming
Three-star safety (Rivals) Jonathan Gipson visited South Carolina this past weekend. This coming Monday, he’ll announce a commitment.
That’s according to an interview with Phil Kornblut.
“It was a lot fun stuff, interesting really,” Gipson said of the trip to Columbia. “I talked to a lot of the coaches. I really enjoyed myself. The cookout was great. It changed my point of view on South Carolina because, at first, I thought it was all business. Every time I went up there, it was all business and recruiting.
“Since I went up there on this last visit I saw that it’s really more about fun with them and just being comfortable. I think I’m in the same position where I was before. They are still my No. 1 school, I think. Nothing has changed.”
Gipson is a 2018 prospect from Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Ga.
