What music are you listening to now?

I recommend watching the Netflix documentary about Rush called "Beyond the Lighted Stage". Fascinating stuff...

Neil Peart was such a master craftsman but he never enjoyed the fame and adulation it brought him. The song "Limelight" is about his struggle with fame...

Sorry for the double post above, but it could be argued that it's worth posting twice!

Here is a compilation that showcases Neil's talent. He has the most intricate and expansive drum kit I've ever seen! Also like that they included a clip of his jazz playing. He completely deconstructed his technique and rebuilt it from the ground up. They talk about it in the documentary named above.

Don't mean to go on, ad infinitum, but this hit me harder than the death of the great Tom Petty. Just began a week of vacation that now is sure to include a ton of Rush!

I've been doing the same since I heard this yesterday. I haven't had this kind of reaction to anyone...famous...ever...at least that I can think of. Neil Peart was a literal genius...on and off the stage...I have actually felt myself getting teary eyed while going through some of the past. 2112 was the first album I ever knew all the words to...my sister had it and when she was away I would sneak into her room and play side one over and over again. Every time I saw them...4 or 5 I think...I was almost entranced...I barely noticed what Geddy or Alex were even doing...and they are both absolutely fucking great! The only show where the drum solo was the highlight and if you have never seen them you have never seen anything like the air drumming that went on...which in most cases can be kind of embarrassing...yet it was impossible to not do it...especially when everybody else is doing it.

The absolute GOAT!!!
