Hoping... A few hours from now.
I've been doing the same since I heard this yesterday. I haven't had this kind of reaction to anyone...famous...ever...at least that I can think of. Neil Peart was a literal genius...on and off the stage...I have actually felt myself getting teary eyed while going through some of the past. 2112 was the first album I ever knew all the words to...my sister had it and when she was away I would sneak into her room and play side one over and over again. Every time I saw them...4 or 5 I think...I was almost entranced...I barely noticed what Geddy or Alex were even doing...and they are both absolutely fucking great! The only show where the drum solo was the highlight and if you have never seen them you have never seen anything like the air drumming that went on...which in most cases can be kind of embarrassing...yet it was impossible to not do it...especially when everybody else is doing it.Don't mean to go on, ad infinitum, but this hit me harder than the death of the great Tom Petty. Just began a week of vacation that now is sure to include a ton of Rush!
They blew away the other nominees in fan voting... And we're overlooked by the "academy".I hope they play this when they get inducted to The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for all you haters.
