Who's on the team in 21/22?

Someone in the 'Cocks marketing department screwed up on this opportunity badly.  I know that they're trying to market the current guys who will be the next to the NBA (or at least so we assume), but there's at least ONE former Gamecock whose Freshman stats warrant inclusion on the list:

Sindarius Thornwell:

  • Points (15.6) and assists (4.0) per game in strictly league games led the conference among freshmen
  • Six 20-point games in league play is the most by a freshman in South Carolina history
  • Posted 22 double-figure scoring games, which included seven 20-point games, also posted 20 games with at least three assists, nine games with at least five rebounds and two double-doubles
  • Led or shared the team lead in scoring 12 times, in rebounding four times, in assists 17 times and in steals 10 times

Put Sin's head up there where Coach Martin's is.  Move Martin to somewhere else on the tweet.  Come on people... connect the past with the present (and the future, for that matter).  Why can't the athletic department figure that out?  ANY success is worth reminding kids about, especially those in recent history who provided the best years that we've seen in DECADES.  We have 3 guys that have made the jump to the NBA in the last 6 years.  Capitalize on those connections... PLEASE.

There appears to be some question as to whether Carlos Williams is going to sign on the 26th or not.  All indications are that he is still planning to, but the rumor mills are kicking up around his name.

Also under consideration for recruitment now is former Bama commit Lanston Wilson.  He was the #2 overall JUCO in the country for 2021 class.  Wilson’s first collegiate offer came from Will Bailey while Bailey was at St. Louis.  Wilson has shown strong interest in the Gamecocks, but there’s been no recent contact.  Expect that to change.

This one wasn’t much of a shock.  Anderson and Moss were the two that we had picked out well before the season had ended.

Some of the others make you wonder, though.
You mean of the over half of the entire team...all starters at one time or another...who all want out of there?  Are we at eight yet?

I still cannot believe we extended Martin's contract. Hell, his own players don't want anything to do with South Carolina or their 'beloved' coach...why do fans like him?

No one has had this level of turnover...NO ONE! Oh...and we absolutely suck at playing the game of basketball. Will never understand what people like about Frank...the constant screaming? Stink eyes instead of in game adjustments and coaching? A system apparently so difficult to play it takes 3 years to even sort of figure out? If kids even make it that long....oh yeah...we did make a single NCAA tournament...in almost a full decade...an entire class ago...my bad!

It's funny at the beginning of the season how most people thought this was Frank's best class ever, but then the team seemed to implode as the season played out.  We had veteran players who should have rallied around their coach but didn't.

Dawn had some issues earlier in the season with personality conflicts among her players, so she brought in some team-building consultants and got things between the players straightened out.  The best players in the country are going to bring big egos with them.

It's hard to say what went on with Frank's squad, but I would assume Frank will address some of it in his annual off-season presser.  That should be a pretty interesting one BTW.  LOL
Coach Martin did not get to spend much time with that team, he had a pretty severe case of COVID from what I understand and then fought it again. I remember commenting to a few friends and discussing how Coach Martin looked like death with his buzz cut and was sitting on the bench with no color or strength.

I waited my entire life to see South Carolina win an NCAA tourney game, my entire life and Coach Martin took us to the Final Four on the cusp of playing for the trophy! In the process he won more NCAA tourney games than all our previous coaches combined, he won our first NCAA tourney game since 1973, the year I was born other than that no love for Coach.... He has more .500 season in the SEC than all our other coaches combined, he has put more players in the NBA than any coach since McGuire and it is not close! He brings talent to Columbia, he does not cheat and has exceptional character in my opinion hence why he is a very well respected coach among his peers!

As I recall he didn't notice anything the first time he tested positive, but the second time kicked him pretty good.

Caslen the hangman is gone now, so Frank can just focus on staying healthy and coaching the team.

While it was expected that they return, you never know who gains their trust and gives bad advice. Nevertheless, I'm happy both are coming back.

I know the expectations aren't going to be very high, but I like where the roster is at and think we might surprise some people next year.
