WR OrTre Smith of Wando released a final five on Wednesday of USC, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina and Florida. There is no order to the five and he has visited each this summer.  Smith plans to announce a commitment on his birthday  September 11th.  He will likely visit the schools again in July and August but no trips have been set.

Smith’s mother Tashia Green went with him to USC, Clemson and Georgia.   His godmother, who lives in North Carolina, went with him to Chapel Hill and he went to Florida for a seven on seven tournament.  Ms. Green worked closely with Smith on his final five choices and offers a breakdown on each:

“We all know that the University of Florida is the sleeper.  They kind of came on pretty late.  OrTre has always been interested in them but he kind of put them on the backburner but when he went to Florida for the seven on seven that kind of turned things around.”

“For Clemson, I’d say he likes the family atmosphere there.  He understands the Clemson culture.  He is a Clemson guy, and when I say a Clemson guy I mean athletically and academically he fits in.”

‘Now USC, they’ve been there from the beginning and have kept in contact.  They have all the majors that he’s interested in and he loves the staff.”

“Georgia, he loves the staff there as well and again it’s a family atmosphere.  That’s really big for him.  He wants to feel connected.”

“UNC, same thing, just that family atmosphere.  When we go to these schools we feel like we fit in. He’s feeling very comfortable right now but at the end of the day, September 11th, there can only be one.”

Smith was considering a visit to Notre Dame but he has dropped those plans.  As for returning to USC and Clemson for the social events in July, Ms. Green said she has some personal events coming up and is not sure they’ll be able to make those gatherings.

He picked clemson wrong, that was the only mistake he did
