Will a 6th offensive coordinator make a difference in Will Muschamp's South Carolina future?

I think Champ's ego is the bigger problem with this relationship. Spurrier was already run off from the program under Champ's watch.
..but.....Steve was allegedly a nuisance and wore out his welcome.  Stupid is as stupid does.

I do not think so. I was fooled into thinking that circumstances outside of Muschamp's control regarding the offense doomed him while he was at Florida, and was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he learned some lessons while there. But IMO the exact same things have followed him to USC, and will continue to follow him wherever he may go as a head coach in CFB, regardless the conference or level. Because the problem lies within Muschamp.

The OCs can draw up game-plans and schemes, but the game-planning and ultimate play-calling in-game will always seem to fall to Muschamp, by his design. And it had been within that mid-game play-calling and decision-making that the flaws all lie. So in the course of a season - any season - the offenses are going to dwindle down and shrivel up not under whoever the OC is, but under Muschamp himself, and we're going to end up exactly where we are. Muschamp has been riding the great horse of developing stellar defenses to get himself to where he is (a CFb head coach), but even while he's been at USC, his defenses have stunk as well.

Spurrier was in charge of the defenses, and ultimately he demanded a lot from his DCs, but he never meddled to any degree until the very end, and that was when the defense fell off the cliff. We haven't had a top SEC defense since. But mostly Spurrier did his thing on offense, and let his DC's and defensive staffs do theirs', and then made decisions at the end of the season. Muschamp won't do that - he'll forever meddle and finger the offenses until they bleed or contract a disease.

It's that old saying, "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....."

I've heard those rumors but I imagine they depend on who's side you hear. Ask champ and fans are bitching. Ask anyone other than Mr Ed and losses to UNC, Tennessee, Missouri and app state followed by the 6 lots vin a row by 35 points to Clemson are a legit reason to complain. I bet once champ is gone we'll hear more positives about spurrier.

Yep....

A few obvious things about Steve and Will Muschamp

Steve:

- He openly admitted to all his mistakes & the Spurriers are good people.

Will Muschamp:

- He's a good guy & he's a crap HC that should be fired.

saying that the fans were bitching makes me question how much of a good guy champ actually is.

Exactly

Exactly
There's also a disturbing trend of higher rated players not reaching their potential. Every team has some transfers and defections, but we are bleeding recruits.

All those Top 25 recruiting classes become irrelevant if we cannot make them solid players that contribute & help us win. QBs included.

Especially at the DB position, which is supposed to be Muschamp's area of expertise.

Agree....if we cannot take most of those higher rated recruits into their Jr and Sr seasons & be competitive, we have a huge coaching problem.

For that matter, recruit rankings are BS....it's what you do with those recruits that matters most (e.g. App St.)

IMO, I think Bobo fits what Muschamp wants to do. Build a strong D, have a power running game  and limit how many possessions another team will get. He will only succeed if he can score,  play good D and shorten the game. At that point we may get to a SECCG once every 3 or 4 years.
