The 13th-ranked South Carolina Women's Soccer Team (12-3-5) were co-East Division Champs, tying with Tennessee for the divisional title but winning the head-to-head tie-breaker for SEC Tournament seeding by virtue of their 6-1 win @ Tenn. on October 23rd. So they were the overall #2 Seed for the SEC Tournament, behind only #1 Seed and 3rd ranked Alabama (19-1-1).
Now the Gamecocks will get to challenge the Alabama club in the SEC Championship Round, with the match kicking off tomorrow (Sunday) at 2:00 pm ET at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Fla. The match will be broadcast on the SECN.
The Gamecocks won against Georgia in a tight semifinal match that ended in regulation tied 1-1, and went to overtime penalty kicks, where the Gamecocks triumphed 4-1. Georgia (12-5-3) had taken out Tennessee 2-0 in their Quarterfinal Round.
