Greenwood High School wide receiver Sam Pinckney III, one of the top prospects from South Carolina scooped up another Power 5 offer this past weekend.
Florida State pulled the trigger while Pinckney was on campus on Saturday for the Seminoles’ junior day.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound prospect was offered by South Carolina last spring.
“I most definitely really like South Carolina,” Pinckney said during an interview with Phil Kornblut.
“They gave me the offer first. South Carolina is my priority right now. I hear from South Carolina pretty much every day. I hear from (linebackers) coach (Coleman) Hutzler and he’s telling me that they are really interested in me and they would like me to come visit anytime, like a second home.”
South Carolina will host him again over the weekend, when Pinckney returns for junior day. As a junior, he caught 72 passes for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he had 61 catches for 627 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Appalachian State and Georgia State have also offered.
According to the 247Sports composite, Pinckney is the No. 136-ranked wide receiver in the Class of 2018. Among prospects from the state of South Carolina, he is No. 15 overall.
