WR Samuel Denmark plans quick decision after Shrine Bowl

Samuel Denmark
Hanahan WR Samuel Denmark is getting a break from the rigors of recruiting this week while participating in Shrine Bowl practices in Spartanburg.  But he said  Monday night he won’t take much time to debate his options of sticking with his Virginia Tech commitment or going with USC when he returns home Saturday night.

“That evening that I get home, after I’m done talking with my family after the game, possibly, or Monday or so,” was the decision timetable Denmark offered up.

Denmark made his official visit to USC Friday and Saturday before heading to Spartanburg and he thought it was a good visit.

“I like what I saw, the new places they have on campus and the new coaching staff they have,” Denmark said.  “They gave me a tour of the campus, a tour of the weight room and all of the facilities football uses.  They said they need a receiver with my speed that can help them out a lot.”

The previous Gamecock staff did not offer Denmark and he committed to Virginia Tech in February.  It was smooth sailing for him from that point forward until the coaching changes at USC and Virginia Tech.  Will Muschamp went to see Denmark last week and offered and that gave him something else to consider.

“I’m honestly not trying to think about it at this time just because I’m at the Shrine Bowl and everything,” he said. “I’m going to sit down with my family and talk about it more once I’m done with everything.”

Denmark, who is an early graduate, said he has been in touch with new Virginia  Tech coach Justin Fuente as well. At this point, Denmark said it’s too close to call on his ultimate decision.

“I’m not quite sure yet.  I’ve got to look at everything and compare the two schools academically and athletically as far as me playing to see what’s the better opportunity for me.”
