WITH VIDEO INCLUDED: Beamer on transfers and newcomers will arrive at South Carolina

Jan. 14, 2022

Oklahoma transfer quarterback Spencer Rattler is “taking care of some loose ends” back in his home state of Arizona, Beamer said. Rattler wasn’t yet on campus Friday, but Beamer said Rattler would be arriving to Columbia soon.

Austin Stogner, the Gamecocks’ new tight end from Oklahoma, is not yet on campus either. “Austin Stogner still has some classes he has to finish at Oklahoma, so he’s got to finish that up this spring,” Beamer said.

Beamer said nine of South Carolina’s high school signees out of the 2022 recruiting class are on campus. He said other than the high school players who didn’t enroll for classes this spring, most of the new players should be in Columbia “pretty soon.” “Excited about those guys being here,” Beamer said. “They moved in the end of last week, so we’re really fortunate to have those guys here.”

According to the USC football Twitter page, members of South Carolina’s high school signing class who are enrolled are quarterback Braden Davis, defensive back Peyton Williams, defensive lineman Felix Hixon and D’Andre Martin, and linebacker Donovan Westmoreland. Though he couldn’t discuss the four most recent acquisitions from the transfer portal, since they haven’t officially signed, Beamer said they should arrive soon.

Central Michigan safety transfer Devonni Reed tweeted Friday that he has arrived on campus. Other transfers, such as defensive lineman Terrell Dawkins (N.C. State), running back Christian-Beal Smith (Wake Forest), and wide receiver Antwane Wells (James Madison) could arrive as soon as this weekend.
