The VENT thread

Well you see it one way I see it another.  Well we have another year and then we shall see this time next year.  We agree to disagree here.
That’s fine we can agree to disagree.  Just remember what is said on this board and others and on the radio and other media outlets has a pretty big impact on recruiting. He’s got a top 20 recruiting class and we need that held together.

He’s not gonna get fired this year so there is no point in continuing to bash him and this team.   It’s not helping anything and just making it worse for him or whoever our next coach is.   I just think we need to save it till next year when it actually matters.

There will be more than 20K Clemson fans at the game - they get a higher percentage of tix than most visiting teams, same thing for us when we play up there.

Muschamp will be around for another year. The App State game was demoralizing, but they were only two point dogs. We sucked versus UNC, Mizzou, and UT, but beat UGA and ended a losing streak against UK, and play the toughest schedule in the nation. And the way the season has gone, we will beat TAMU and Clemson, LOL - this seems to be an "opposites" year.

What will happen is something similar to what supposedly happened with Dabo. Boom will get an ultimatum to make changes on Offense. His contract will get re-structured - lowered buy-out (it drops some anyway if he comes back) but more in incentives. Boom will agree to the re-structuring because he wants another year - this is his last shot at being a major college head coach and he has to succeed. And Ray needs to tell him to get his mojo back - he looks like a whipped puppy on the sidelines, which does not give confidence to his players. Show some life and fire.

Ray is not in any danger. Outside of football, the athletic program is in good shape - I watched the two basketball teams kick ass yesterday, along with winning the SEC Women's Soccer title.
Smartest post I’ve read in a while.

At this point he really needs to win to maintain recruiting at a higher level especially after 4 years here and that should show in wins not loses to App. St. 6-7 most likely 4-8 season back to back.  Yeah that really helps in recruiting.  One more thing here. If he can pull off a win Saturday then turn around and beat Clemson I will take off my hat a solute him. You think I like losing. Hell no my friend I just want to win and I would love to see him succeed here. But that light is going out and he is the one holding it. Not us.

I don’t disagree with you, he absolutely has to start winning some games. Or, hire a big-time offensive coordinator that will re-energize the fan base, boost recruiting and buy him a little more time.

Read this let this sink in. Below losing like this to a smaller way smaller school way up in the mountains. Ever been to Boone.  this will do more harm to recruiting then anything you or me say. I am not mad ok. Just let this sink in. My girlfriend went to App. St. spent a lot of time there. Biggest thing was the pizza hut and beating the Gamecocks twice.

App State Coach Drinkwitz: “Coach Muschamp's salary is probably bigger than my football budget as a whole. The South Carolina football budget is greater than that of our entire athletic department. They have some massive advantages, but we have elite level talent and a team that believes.“

That's embarrassing. We should be humiliated and we are. If I'd like to vent about anything, is senseless fans continuing to try and sunshine pump in the middle of this embarrassment.

This is coaching: "but we have elite level talent and a team that believes".

Hiring a new OC isn't going to "fix" this....I'll be nice.  :banghead:

Got a old saying for moments like this You can cover crap with ice cream but you still got shit to eat. You just can't justify this lose. Ice cream melts and the crap is still there. Good night!! :crap-emoticon:

Maybe we do like they do in LA with teachers they can’t fire.  They report to a quiet room 8 hours a day during the school year and do crosswords. That should keep us in the good on that 19 mil.

It's time to redo Muschamp's contract and make it performance based.  Next year's salary is based on this season's record. $400k for each win over a BCS team and $200k for wins over all other opponents.  $50k for each loss against a BCS team and subtract $100k for each loss against all other opponents.  This salary should start in 2020 making next years HC salary $1.65m to $2.35m depending on the outcome of the last 2 games.  Use the savings to hire a top shelf OC and bump the DC salary up to match.

If this was in place before the game last night, I bet the outcome would have been different and Muschamp would have coached a way to win.
He has a contract.

You cant just arbitrarily change it because you suddenly don’t like the terms.

If you fire Muschamp and use your ideas for incentives or reductions not only are we not going to hire anyone remotely resembling a HBC, we’ll be the laughingstock of college football and sports in general.

My take. Champ is here at least one more year. If our AD did decide to release him, after paying the $19M how do we even afford a decent replacement. No money left to bargain with. I think most of us agree we need a new OC. Could that save Champs job? Who knows? I guess it depends. Our 2020 schedule is going to be worse than this year. We have to play LSU in Baton Rouge the week after Georgia instead of Bama. We get one bye before A&M comes in. Get a new OC and win 7 or 8 and Champ is a hero.

Stay with all things the same and we will not only look ridiculous, we will loose any chance of getting good recruits and probably see several transfer. But hey, The BOT is spending $20M on the stadium. Maybe the should put that on hold and just buy out Champ. I will be watching both games and I will pull for our team, but I am pretty much shifting to hoops now. At least both teams seem to be on good footing with good coaching staffs.

Yep you are correct. Well nothing more to say. I just hope we win Saturday. Then move to the Clemson game. Chips are going fall where they fall. No sense beating a dead horse. It is what it is and I am going to try my best to enjoy the last two games of the season.

I'm pretty sure one of the two sunshine pumpers goes by Gamecock Larry on 107.5 lol.  He picked us to beat both A&M and Clemson yesterday.

We already are the "laughingstock of college football".

So are you leaving for a month if the TAMU game is the 7th loss, or are you going to wait till after the Clemson game to see if it moves to 2 months with the 4-8 record?

Champ only has a top 20 recruiting class? He should be doing better than that. I thought he was a recruiting god! Even Spurrier has better classes. Hell, you can get a top 25-30 recruiting class just from being in the SEC. If we cant do better than in the top 20, we need help!

Pretty disappointed that the board aired out as much as they did in this situation.  They may have really put a nail in next year's recruiting class.  My opinion is that you keep that stuff in house.  Also think Drinkwitz comments about our football budget is kind of a douchebag move and really not necessary.

Well here to begin with Ray had nothing to do with either one being here. He didn't hire them. But will give him credit for sticking with Martin when everyone was clamoring for Martin's head. but other than that that's it.  Now let's move on to Tanner being safe. Yes he is safe bet to be here, But not as AD. Look for a possible move here. Let's call it shuffling the deck.

BOT should have kept their mouth shut. There is absolutely nothing to gain by airing dirty laundry like that. It's just dumb.

Even if they are planning on making moves the response from everyone in that meeting should have been simple positives like "We had a very productive meeting" and nothing more.

Make the moves behind the scenes and announce any changes once everything is in place.

What quality OC is going to want to sign on to a "do or die" in one year gig?

We all know what happened to recruiting when HBC screwed up and put it out there that he had a sunset in mind. Same applies here. Recruits are not going see USC as positively if there is potential for HC upheaval.

BOT should keep a lid on it until they are ready to clean house or announce a major restructure and then move forward selling the fanbase on the value of their decision.

Just my 2 cents for what that's worth... 2 cents.
