Columbia, S.C.  - The South Carolina Gamecocks Football team returns to Williams-Brice Stadium after a bye-week break to host the Florida Gators in a prime-time battle. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. (EST), and will be broadcast by the SEC Network.

The Gamecocks (4-4, 1-4) are looking for answers coming off of a tough 44-14 road loss at the hands of Texas A&M. The Gators (4-4, 2-4) lost 34-7 in Jacksonville last Saturday to Georgia.

SEC Network has the television broadcast with Taylor Zarzour and Matt Stinchcomb in the booth and Alyssa Lang on the sidelines. Todd Elis and Tommy Suggs handle the call for the Gamecock Radio Network with Jamar Nesbit on the sidelines.

CAROLINA VS. FLORIDA: This is the 42nd meeting in a series that dates back to 1911. The Gators lead the all-time series, 29-9-3, including a 12-7-1 lead when playing in Columbia and a 16-2 advantage in Gainesville. The teams have also met three times at a neutral site with Florida winning once and the other two games ending in a tie. The Gamecocks have won five of the last 11 contests between the two squads after losing 18 of the previous 19 meetings.

JUST GETTING WARMED UP: The Gamecocks have won five of the last 11 gridiron battles with the Gators after winning just four of the first 30 meetings between the two schools.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET: South Carolina ventured into the Swamp on Oct. 3, 2020 and dropped a 38-24 decision to the No. 3/3 Florida Gators. Statistically, the game was closer than the final score indicates, as the Gators gained just 19 more total yards (348-329), while the Gamecocks had more first downs (25-18) and ran 30 more plays (83-53) while controlling the clock for 36:23. Sophomore running back Kevin Harris reached the 100-yard rushing mark on 22 carries in the contest.

THE LAST TIME IN COLUMBIA: Kyle Trask threw for a career-high four touchdowns as No. 9/9 Florida rallied past the Gamecocks, 38-27, on Oct. 19, 2019 in Columbia. Carolina held a 20-17 lead going into the final period, but surrendered 21-consecutive points on three touchdowns passes by Trask in the fourth quarter. The Gator quarterback completed 21-of-33 passes on the day for 200 yards with an interception. Tavien Feaster had his best game as a Gamecock, rushing 25 times for 175 yards. Ryan Hilinski was 17-of-35 for 170 yards in the loss.

THE LAST CAROLINA WIN: Jake Bentley shook off three interceptions to throw for 249 yards and scored a pair of rushing touchdowns as the Gamecocks posted a 28-20 win over the Gators and interim head coach Randy Shannon on Nov. 11, 2017 in Columbia. A.J. Turner ran 22 times for 136 yards and Mon Denson rushed for the first two touchdowns of his career, as Carolina had its best offensive game of the season with 469 total yards.

I suspect our offense uses the magic 8 ball to shake then determine the next play. It is the only thing that can explain our playcalling. The coaches say this player is doing great so we will get him the ball more. Then he gets one or two plays.

The stadium lights! A night game! Gamecocks play the Gators in a little over an hour.

For the Bobo fans: Late in the 3rd his offense has produce 64 yards rushing and 3 pts. We saw this last season when teams showed up and played some defense. They shut his vaulted rushing attack down! His SC offense put up 3pts, 50 yards rushing on 25 attempts and 100 passing last yr against TAM as well. Two different teams, same OC very similar results! So much for the Golden Boy some claim we should have kept

There's a wicked cold-azz wind blowin' tonight.

Not a lot of FGs for either team tonight me thinks.

Be great if we slug it out and get the upset.

Gamecocks lead 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, but Florida is on the doorstep with a 3rd and 6 at the Gamecock 13-yd line.

Gamecocks have been able to churn up yards on the ground, mostly by Zaq White - he has 86 yds already in just 5 attempts. Gators are tearing up our secondary through the air - their QB already has thrown for 163 yds going 8-12.

We hold them to a FG to tie the game up 10-10. 314 yards of offense from both teams in one quarter of ball. Lets see what happens this quarter of FB....

Gamecocks continuing to play some offense! Leading 13-10, Gamecocks hold Florida to punt!! Brown throws a HUGE 50-yd pass to Josh Vann to the Gator 26-yd line!! A fumble from Brown is recovered by White, but we lose 11 yds. 2nd and 21 now, and we're out of FG range.

Brown makes up much of those yds with a 13-yd pass to Vann - 3rd and 8 to the UF 24.

Brown then THROWS A 24-YD TOUCHDOWN TO VANN!! TOUCHDOWN GAMECOCKS! Parker White's kick is good, and Gamecocks now lead 20-10!

Gamecocks defense holds Florida to another punt for the second straight possession! Defense has stepped up with excitement from the offense producing.

We drive down the field to score a 40-yd FG from White. Keep adding to that lead. 23-10 Gamecocks, 1:13 left in the half.

Florida has the ball - their QB rushes but is under pressure - HE FUMBLES THE BALL! JABARI ELLIS RECOVERS ON THE GALLOP - HE RUNS IT IN FROM THE GATOR 17-YD LINE FOR THE TOUCHDOWN!!

Gamecocks now lead 30-10!! Still about a minute left in the 1st half......

End of the first half, Gamecocks lead 30-10. Jason Brown is 12-17 for 169 yds, 1 td, 0 int. Zaquandre White with 8 rushes for 91 yds, and Kevin Harris with 6 carries for 59 yds. Josh Vann with 6 receptions for 113 yds and 1 td.

Gamecocks have 316 total yards for the 1st half. Lets hope we can continue the good offensive showing for the 2nd half, and our defense keeps playing like they have the 2nd qtr., and not like they did for the 1st qtr.....

End of the 3rd Qtr., and Gamecocks extend their lead to 40-10 over the Florida Gators. The Gamecocks have 40 points and 400 total yards of offense, through the 3rd quarter. The Gators are threatening however, with a 3rd and 4 at the Gamecock 30 yd line.

Gamecocks traded punts with Florida to start the 2nd half. Then on their next possession, a 40-yd run by MarShawn lloyd put the offense on UF's 13-yd line. The Gamecocks were not able to gain from there, and a Parker White 39-yd FG extended the lead to 33-10.

Then on the Gator's next possession, the Gamecock defense holds then again: Gator coach Mullen opts to go for it on 4th and 1 on their own 32-yd line, but they are stopped cold, and turn the ball over on downs. The Gamecocks starting out 1st and 10 at the UF 32, pound the ball down to 10-yd line. The Gamecocks convert on their own 4th and 1, and with it 1st and 8 at the UF 8-yd line, Brown hits Jaheim Bell for the 8-yd TD to get the score to 40-10 Gamecocks.....
