Again, this is hearsay, but I was told Napier wanted 5 million a year, and his assistants to be the highest paid in the SEC.  IF that is the case, it could have been the final nail in the coffin.

It has to be the buyout, or some form of pay  he was way up on the list early.

After graduating from Furman, he headed to Clemson as a graduate assistant. Following a two-year stint as a GA at Clemson, he was then hired as the QB coach at South Carolina State in 2004. After only one year with SC State, Napier chose to return to Clemson when he accepted a job with dual roles as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator on Tommy Bowden's staff. In his third year as TE coach and recruiting coordinator, Tommy Bowden resigned midseason after early season struggles that failed to meet high expectations, and Napier gave up his roles as RC and TE coach when he was named QB coach by newly appointed interim head coach Dabo Swinney. FWIW, the "Napier wants a gazillion dollars a year" theory, at least in the Twitterverse, seems to not have as much traction as on the boards. Maybe not a done deal after all ... ?

as long as Fulmer is involved at Tennessee they will continue to struggle regardless of the coach...that being said if Napier is holding out for there, he will be inheriting a similar situation with far more scrutiny and pressure from not only the fans but also the donut king looking over his shoulder 

good luck to Napier and what he wants...eventually the bigger programs will quit asking or his stock will potentially go down...he has done amazing things at UL and for his sake I hope the trends continue!  He is who I wanted but it seems that ship has sailed...I will be behind Beamer if he is chosen but I still can't see that big of a jump being successful...I hope that time proves that fear unfounded

Poor or non-existent game day management has been our bugaboo in recent seasons.

Just changing that alone would get us above .500.

Beamer would be good if he could do that despite his lack of HC experience.
