Head Coach candidates

If I am not mistaken, Fleck signed a 7 year extension, I doubt the BOT would approve the funds to get him away from there and buy Muschamp out.

What about Matt Campbell? He has done well at Iowa St.

Though this is fun, I still don't think Muschamp goes anywhere for next year. I see us changing coordinator(s) but not the HC.
Let  me put this out. How about if Boom bucks the board and the leadership here. What came out Today was that he would need to make some coaching changes along with progress on the field winning but that part will only come in to play next year if he makes the changes the board wants to see at the end of the season. Now back to the coaching changes, the one we know would be BMac. and could be 2 more. Boom tells them no I am sticking and backing my guys here. Would that open the door for preach of his contract?  Make the buyout shrink or possibly even gone. If your boss told you that you had to fire certain person and you didn't.

What most likely would the response be. You get canned and the one you where told to fire along with you. Got to be guidelines to this contract. Any good businessmen would have a safety net built into the contract.

In most cases you would not be able to be successful receiving unemployment benefits. I know because I won a few cases where ex employees I fired they could not be awarded because of the reasons they where fired under.  Just wanted to throw that out.

Insubordination

There are three factors in determining insubordination:

  1. The employer gives the order.
  2. The employee acknowledges the order.
  3. The employee refuses to carry out the order.

Is Boom really that stubborn or stupid to do that? What is his loyalty to BMac or TRob?

Okay, I'll be the new HBC, but there will be a couple of caveats.

I want to be paid a big boatload of money for a couple of years so I can buy a few acres and put a pole building on it.  I will also buy a new zero-turn ridin' lawnmower because they look fast and fun to use.

Now, don't pester me about wins and stuff, because I am all about the pole building and the lawnmower.  There will be clauses in my contract about the pole building and the lawnmower, so just git over it.

I look forward to seeing each and every one of our fans at the games next year.  Shucks, I might even make it to a game or two myself.

And lastly, go Gamecocks!!

I don't understand why the buyout is such a big deal.  I know it's a lot of money, but there is plenty of it in football, and the check doesn't have to be written right now.  It can be spread out over years.
It's like $4 mill a year for the next several years, that's a big deal, especially if we have to pay another school's buyout to snag their coach.

Nope....rather look at the ones at the bottom of the list making noticeably less than $4.5 mil/yr. that are doing noticeably better than our current guy.
Have any of them played a top 10 schedule and done well?  Top 5 schedule?  #1 schedule?  I’m guessing there aren’t any names at the “bottom of that list” playing a top 10 schedule and doing well.

There is no other conference like the SEC and these coaches doing well in other conferences aren’t going against NFL defensive lines every week.  They might be out coaching their peers in another conference but it’s a different ball game in the SEC going against the top coaches in the nation.  New coaches come into the league every year and must of them head right back out.

Dream all you want but it’s a total crap shoot.

I’m still a fan of hiring Lane Kiffen.  Why you ask?  2 reasons......

1.  He’s got a hot wife.

2.  When we want him fired after a couple of years and he has a $100,000,000 buyout, we can have these all over campus.

I mentioned somewhere earlier this year that we might want to take a look at Mike Houston. He's having a rough year in his first year at ECU, but he's done well everywhere else he's been. If he starts winning big at ECU too, I'd expect him to get some big offers.

Let me ask you all question. Say by some miracle Boom wins the last 2 goes bowling wins that finishes 7-6 to close out the year here. Would you greet him at the airport and throw all your support on him. Saying he is our man? This is good scary but we all would be wearing egg on are faces and just think about all those sunshine pumpers give you and me hell. Could you take?

I could and would be glad to eat crow and smile and say yes you are right and say Thanks Tanner you know your business. Sunshine pumpers are just waiting for there moment to TOLD YOU SO MOMENTS!! If it happens give me pure hell. but if not no excuses why the Gamecocks wet 4-8 given him cover. Here comes the sun. Now for the ones in full support (sunshine pumpers here is your say) you see winning out? Going 1-1? Like to know why you have that feeling good vibes etc etc.

If we won 3 in a row to close the season, I would be very happy and give credit where it's due. However, that doesn't mean I'm just going to blindly be a Muschamp supporter. Changes still need to be made, regardless of how good or bad the end of this season is. I'll be more likely to support him if he makes changes on the coaching staff, but I don't think he will voluntarily make a change (hopefully Caslen/Tanner force it) and we are stuck with more of the same next year.

That I totally agree with beginning to end.  :371723034_clapping-smiley-emoticon(1)small: HI FIVE!!

My dream list

I know the changes this year are slim to none for any change now and I also know that my coaching picks for the most part would be hard to land. But this is my top 3 that to me could come in and change the program around. One point here none are short term fixes if they can turn it around would be here each one for the long term.

  1. P.J. FLECK now at Minnesota; BIO HERE
  2. Dave Clawson now at Wake Forest: BIO HERE
  3. Mike Houston at East Carolina: BIO HERE

Campbell, Clawson, Novell, Fickell yep and Drinkwitz. The ones out west my only worry would be recruiting. Would have to establish recruiting ties in the south.  On Eilliott interesting but the way things came down. Very unlikely ever see him here again on the coaching lines.

Asst coaches do most of the recruiting with the HC doing the big sell. I don't see that as a big problem.

About Shawn...this is his 1st gig...have to see how it goes after a few more years. I don't think '15 matters. Can he build a program?....that's what matters.
