Head Coach candidates

Let me interject here. Per say most coaches want to bring there people with them. Would they not still have to establish recruiting network here in the south? Agree with what you say about Shawn. but have to take a look in approach with him to see how he looks in a few more years. One thing about Shawn he loves Carolina Garnet.

Yep...lots of times the recruits commit to their position coaches. IMO, recruiting will take care of itself if we get a solid HC.

I would love to see Shawn become successful. It would be a hoot if he beats App St this weekend.

My dream list

I know the changes this year are slim to none for any change now and I also know that my coaching picks for the most part would be hard to land. But this is my top 3 that to me could come in and change the program around. One point here none are short term fixes if they can turn it around would be here each one for the long term.

 1. P.J. FLECK now at Minnesota; BIO HERE
 2. Dave Clawson now at Wake Forest: BIO HERE
 3. Mike Houston at East Carolina: BIO HERE
Have any of them been at their respective programs at least 4 years?  Are they in a season where they are playing with only players they have evaluated and recruited and not anyone else’s?  100% their own teams.

Have any of them played a top 10 schedule and done well?  Top 5 schedule?  #1 schedule?  I’m guessing there aren’t any names at the “bottom of that list” playing a top 10 schedule and doing well.

There is no other conference like the SEC and these coaches doing well in other conferences aren’t going against NFL defensive lines every week.  They might be out coaching their peers in another conference but it’s a different ball game in the SEC going against the top coaches in the nation.  New coaches come into the league every year and must of them head right back out.

Dream all you want but it’s a total crap shoot.
Honestly, that doesn't matter. He gets paid to win games, not get embarrassed and "take a look at the flim" week and week out with no changes.

Okay, I'll be the new HBC, but there will be a couple of caveats.

I want to be paid a big boatload of money for a couple of years so I can buy a few acres and put a pole building on it.  I will also buy a new zero-turn ridin' lawnmower because they look fast and fun to use.

Now, don't pester me about wins and stuff, because I am all about the pole building and the lawnmower.  There will be clauses in my contract about the pole building and the lawnmower, so just git over it.

I look forward to seeing each and every one of our fans at the games next year.  Shucks, I might even make it to a game or two myself.

And lastly, go Gamecocks!!
I know I'm old, but what is a pole building? Is it a topless bar?

Man Boom what 4 years at Florida and 4 years here now just look at Coach O just 3 years at LSU and what playing most likely for a Naty the point here is? Boom cannot win with most of his players both place he won with the other guys recruit. That was the base. Then everything after that goes down hill.

I don’t want Drinkwitz.  He has not done anything yet to prove he is worth hiring.  9 games Into first HC job after inheriting 10 win program isn’t proving anything.

I think we likely get new OC and maybe another new guy or two on O staff next year.  Our D is actually played well most this season but our O sucking has made it look worse than it is.  Do we go after Chad Morris?

I like Clawson if I had my pick off reasonable possibilities.  I just don’t know who we can attract at this point.  We need to find a way to stand out in the East and I’d like to see that be a dynamic O with Boom or whoever is next.

That's the problem, "oh they need four years to get their players in the system", then you hit 4 years and it's "oh they need 6 years to get players in their system". Meanwhile other schools seem to make big turnarounds in just a few years. I was 100% in Muschamps corner, I saw a hard working recruiter with a chip on his shoulder, but the more I look at it, the more I see the same mistakes he made at UF. I would be so glad to eat some crow when I say this, I just don't think he is head coach material and it's time for the program to cut their losses and move on. I think Campbell from ISU would be a solid option, I would also be happy with Heuple and Clawson. They have all shown that they can do more with less recruiting wise, which is the situation that Carolina is in right now.

I’m still a fan of hiring Lane Kiffen.  Why you ask?  2 reasons......

1.  He’s got a hot wife.

2.  When we want him fired after a couple of years and he has a $100,000,000 buyout, we can have these all over campus.

I regret to inform you that Lane and Layla Kiffin divorced in 2016. He's free to bang all the FAU coeds he wants. To a guy like Lane, that's the same as a gazillion dollars.

I used to think we needed a coach with Southern ties. I am over that. Bring in the best person and let him hire some excellent coodinators.

Mark D’Antonio?

he’s probably done at MSU

Think Boom would consider moving to the DC and let us hire a new HC?

Seems there might be some contractual elements that prevent that. Same with putting WM on some kind of reassignment or sabbatical. We're screwed.
