*** MBB 18-12 South Carolina vs 10-20 Vanderbilt GAME THREAD***

USC cannot stay in front of ANY guard from another team.   They just drive us to death.    We get beat and then someone fouls.   I don't know why anyone would think we play good defense.  We don't.   Fouling isn't good defense.   Preventing drives without fouling is good defense.   Forcing the other team to beat you with threes is good defense.  Allowing the other team to drive the ball, and either score or pass for a score is BAD defense.    And that is the kind of defense we play.  BAD!!!!

To make the NCAAT now will require winning four games in four days.     Given how this team has played the last few weeks, that is about as likely as my being elected the next Pope.   And I'm not Catholic.    Making the NIT might still be possible, but it is far from guaranteed at this point.    If we lose the first SECT game, I don't think we'll even make the NIT.  Probably take at least two SECT wins to get strongly considered.

He's just trying to be a South Carolina Gamecock fan, and have hope. It's hard enough without being called out for it.....
I certainly do not need you to talk for me and I think that your schtick of calling out the only coach to ever take us to the Final Four or for that matter win a tourney game in the last 40 years is insane but hey his style must suck and rely on officiating... When we make a run in the SEC Tourney it will be because the refs changed the way they called the game not because we are hitting shots. I didn't think the refs cost us the game as I thought they called bad calls both ways, of the 53 fouls called 20 of them were phantom about evenly split between the 2 teams and the technical fouls were absolutely stupid and gave Couisnard a BS foul! If you are going to call the game properly than call the moving screens that were non stop on our guards at the top of the key and call Pippen and Lee for using their off hand as well as for kneeing the defender when the went up for shots, Kotsar was kneed in the nuts 2 times and called for fouls while standing straight up until he was kneed in the nuts.

SEEMS TO ME EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD IS A SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCK FAN OR A TROLL, IT IS NOT HARD FOR ME TO BE A GAMECOCK AND I HAVE NO TIME FOR TROLLS! I WILL ALWAYS GIVE THE GAMECOCKS A REASON TO BELIEVE AND HOPE!

What are you smoking??
I don't smoke but after that game wish I could! They have the ability to beat any team in the SEC, they have proved that, with a healthy squad and tourney refs in a neutral arena they have as good a shot as anyone to make a run! I don't think they will have another 1-13 from downtown night and believe they will slow down a little to play inside out to get Kotsar better looks at the basket while allowing him to hit open teammates for baskets in the tourney, need to ru nthe offense through him in the half court while getting Lawson and Bolden going from deep and hope Minaya has a shot as he looked good on defense. Couisnard and Hannibal can still push the ball for easy buckets to streaking players like Bryant, McCreary, Frink, Minaya, Lawson and Bolden as well as being aggressive taking the ball to the basket to create fouls but we have to get better in the half court and I think we will. On defense we will see some different looks in the tourney IMO, a good bit of match up zones into man to man to provide pressure at half court or even full court, just my opinion but Martin is very good tourney coach, he has only been one and done in the SEC tourney 3 times and we are due.

Oh, we're due all right.   I'll agree with you on that.   But I have a hard time agreeing with the other things you said.   You never know what you are going to get with this team, except you know they will foul a lot more than the opponent.   That's  the only thing you can be sure of.   You never know how they will shoot, or how many turnovers they will have, or whether they will make most of their FT.    I'm expecting them to screw up the SECT just like they have screwed up so many other games this season.   I really do wish I could be optimistic, but this team has taught me not to be.

They won more than they screwed up and were in almost every game this year, they had very few games that they were not at least in the game at the end but to each his own.

I was sick in bed all day today and not able to watch or listen to the game.

It sucks losing to Vandy, but their NET being in the triple digits was probably going to kill us anyway, win or lose.

It was Senior Day at Vandy and their season has been trash the whole year.  You could see the upset to finish off their regular season coming a mile away.

We're used to winning 20 games with a soft schedule and then not making it to the NCAAT because of our soft schedule.

Ironically, it was Vandy who edged us out one year with only 19 wins because they had a stronger schedule and RPI back then.

Hopefully we can some reps for Minaya if he is still okay to play after today.

When you get outscored by 10 or more on FT, you have to compensate for that  either by having a high 2 pt. FG percentage, or by making some threes.   We couldn't do either of those things well enough against Vandy to overcome their FT advantage.

It puzzles me why USC cannot, or will not, adjust their defensive tactics to prevent so many fouls.   Its like USC has a learning disability.  They keep getting beat because of FT, but they can't seem to realize that the refs are not going to allow them to be as physical as they would like to be and they must make adjustments.   ?????????????  The failure of the team to adjust their tactics makes me question what is going on in the minds of our coaches.   This problem has been going on for weeks, with seemingly no changes in our defense.    I wish Frank would explain this.   Its obvious that this team can't play defense the way Frank wants them to without fouling.   It should be obvious to our coaches.
