Official 2019 Carolina Panthers Season Thread

Rivera walked out of yesterday's press conference.  The end of his tenure in Carolina is near.  I will watch this week now that Cam is not playing.  I had pretty much written them off for the season.

Fun game to watch today. Kyle Allen looked very good as did most of the team. Defense was very productive, albeit vs a rookie QB. But 8 sacks and 2 INT are good anytime. I’m happy the team showed a spark today bc I’m going to the game next weekend in Houston and it looks like they can give Houston a good game.

It was great to see what our receivers can do when the ball is delivered on time and in their hands.  I read several Cam apologist on boards last week saying that Norv could not call plays, the offensive line sucked and his receivers were bad.  The Cardinals are not a great defense, but other than a couple of stare downs, Allen used his eyes well and spread the ball around to 7 different people.  I hope he can keep it up and if he does Cam can go ahead and get ready to the reality show he seems to be auditioning for.  Still someone needs to get to Ron and tell him to get another running back into the game.  Once again yesterday toward the end of the game with a two touchdown lead and we are hammering McCaffrey  up the middle.  If they don't get another option he will be done in 3 years.  Quinn alluded to this yesterday during the broadcast and every Panther fan is screaming it, I just cannot understand it.  Christian Miller had a good game as well.  His speed and hustle will allow us to get after some mobile quarterback this year.

This was the whole thing for me. Allen was accurate, and Turner's O centers on getting the ball out to the speed guys we've drafted (moore, samuel, CMC). It was working yesterday. Also GO88 was awesome running routes Sunday.

Big win, but man, Allen with those 3 freakin' fumbles. He's got to protect the ball better. CMC did everything for the offense. And Samuel is outplaying Moore right now. D was fantastic, holding Deshaun to 10 points.

Attended the game today. It was good we got the win but pretty sloppy all around. Not sure why we won’t ever give McCaffery a break... his career will be over by age 25.

the Texans are a weird team because they have talent but just can’t but things together. We won despite losing the turnover battle which was big and I like what the defense is doing this year.

Oh and there were a lot of Panther fans at the game which was good to see. First live action of the Panthers I have seen since 2014 in Philly. Always fun to see them play.

I did not get to watch the game yet.  Just looking at the stat lines and one thing that stands out again is 6 different receivers caught balls, which tells me Allen is able to read the field and not just get locked in on one person.  I would like to see his body language after a tough game where he apparently did not play very well with the fumbles etc.  That was the one thing that kills me about Cam if things do not start well he just stands there flat footed and fires balls at the same velocity to everyone no matter where they are on the field or how much velocity needs to be on the ball.  I think it goes all the way back to his early years when Rivera called him Mr. Mopey face and it is something I hoped he would outgrow, but did not appear to.  Also I think we have a good player in Burns.  With Irvin now back and when KK comes back this defense is going to have a solid rotation up front.  Addison has hit one of his hot streaks let's hope he can keep that rolling

Kawann Short headed to the IR to have shoulder surgery.  I hope the line can step up over the course of the rest of the season in his absence.  They have done well in the last 2 games, just hope they can sustain it.

Close game and McCaffrey is playing great again today against the Jags but like you I think they are over using him to his eventually detriment

I hope y'all beat the Jags and yes your RB is being run into the ground but that appears what Carolina does. Y'all need some help. Cam is out because he don't really have the talent at WR of other top rated QBs.

I'm a Steeler Fan, so I come in peace.

You clearly have not followed the team if you think Cam is “top-rated” and out because of receivers.

Folks around the league regard him as one of the top QBs, maybe y'all don't. I also noticed as an outside observer that he has not had the same level of receivers as Matt Ryan, Big Ben, Brees and etc. He also has taken a pretty good beating the last few years, even in the SB against the Broncos.

He’s clearly taken a beating but that is from lack of good o lineman the GM has put around him. Our WR are good, it’s just our offense runs a little weirdly.

OK, I haven't kept up with you guys that closely so I don't know who you have at WR but they aren't names like the Falcons', Julio, Ridley, Sanu. I live in Atl, so I know the Falcons are stacked at WR like my Steelers used to be.

Being from S, Carolina, I pull for you guys when I can.

Postives: A win.. Another all-pro game by CMC, the 84 yarder was electrifying. The OL wore the Jags front down, D was good enough today. Burns is playing well and we're getting some push up front. When CMC went out with the cramps, Bonnafon came in and had some good runs, maybe the OC will wise up and get off this CMC-every-down thing.

Negatives: two more fumbles from Allen, and an interception. Some bad throws that cost first downs and TD's (that slant to Moore was open, he sailed a Jake). Slye was putrid today, two missed FG's and a borked PAT as well. Minshew was able to thread through the pocket and pick up yards with his feet (I was impressed with him overall).

It all adds up to 3 in a row. Need this win against the Bucs  across-the-pond next week.
