Got a favorite summer hike? Just get back from a good walk? Post your pix or trail maps here!

I’ll start - took the grand-dog out on the Blue Mtn. Logging Road yesterday; only a half hour from my house but feel like you are deep into the Cascades backcountry.

That is gorgeous country!

My wife slipped off a trailer and injured her ankle, so we are having to take it easy for a few weeks. We did a little one mile hike to Melrose Falls in Saluda, NC, to test her ankle strength.

Took a nice, short hike to Brasstown Falls on Saturday.  It’s a pretty easy hike of only about a mile.  They have added steps, and are building a bridge over the creek to the upper falls.  I don’t like it, because it takes away from the natural beauty, but it makes it more accessible to some other folks.  I tried to get a picture with the dog, but she doesn’t cooperate very well.

Think the wife and I are going for a 2 day AT hike end of August when the kids are away. AT in Md is pretty flat so we might branch into Pa or maybe go south to Harpers Ferry.

If you head down the valley a little bit the trail for days north and south of the Peaks of Otter is just amazing.

That sounds fantastic!  I hope to do some of that in the future.

Beautiful afternoon out with our other grand dog yesterday!

Beautiful country. My wife and I are planning to go to South Dakota in October, and I’m hoping to get some hiking in in the Badlands.

I had planned for my wife and I to hike our favorite trail today. I have never seen another person on the first three miles of the trail in all the times I’ve hiked it. It starts on private property, so you have to get permission and the gate code to get into the camp. We arrived at the trailhead to find about thirty people going on a group hike. That just doesn’t work for me. My hikes are my time to get away from phones, other people (not counting the wife), and noise. I want to go out and enjoy nature, peace and quiet and get some exercise. So, we left and went to another trail that goes to Lake Wattacoo. I had forgotten that Oil Camp Creek Trail crosses that trail, so we took it. From that point on, we didn’t come across another soul. It was great!  This is the time of year I enjoy it the most, once it cools down and you can really savor being outside.

Here are some pictures and videos of some of the beautiful stuff we saw, plus my dog, who absolutely lives for hiking. The sheer joy on her face as she runs up the trails, exploring and splashing through the water is worth it, even if I didn’t enjoy it.

Pics from my summer Sunbird tour. Some of these are hikes, the rest are sightseeing.

Hope y'all back east can get out west sometime. It's another world for sure!

You have a short hike up to the peak. This is 14,258'. Note the date. That marker has seen lots of very cold weather.

View from Mt. Evans. These are the Rockies in CO. You drive up to this area, then do some hiking at the top. You always meet nice people at these places.

And look...it's a B-24 flying by. Red Rocks trail area, Denver.

This is on the way down from Mt. Evans, CO. More Rockies scenery.

Rocky Mtn NP. 8-23-21. You have to hike up to these places from the parking lot. Just after I took this picture, it got cold and started raining. Crazy!
