*** USC (0-0/0-0) vs. #15 Tennessee (0-0/0-0) Game Thread ***

Force the Vols to a 4th and 2 at the USC 36 yd line, and Enagbare hits the Vol QB late to give them a 1st down. Just so implosive......

Defense holds the Vols again, this time with no foot-shooting penalty. Lets see what our offense can do pinned deep on our own side of the field here....

 
The offense goes about 15 yds, then Hill is sacked at the 18-yd line on 3rd and 7, and we punt. The Gamecock OL is getting shoved around, and we have few receiving options getting open. In long passing downs, the Vols are bringing the sink, something I'm reminded we used to be so good at under Ward's defenses in the good days (the Rabbit Package). We haven't responded to that very well, and our 3rd-down conversion today has been poor......

 
Gamecocks had a couple solid plays for gains.....Hill then drops the ball on 1st and 10 and Eric Douglas falls on it, but Muschamp does Muschamp and lets the game clock run down so he can get an early jog towards the lockerroom.

Total yds at the half: 109 USC, 127 UTjr.

We've held UTjr. to just 10 rushing yds in the 1st half. Shi Smith has 7 receptions in 10 targets for 84 yds in the 1st half, but all TDs have been scored on the ground, plus the one defensive pick-6 by UTjr. After Smith, RB Harris and TE Muse are the next top receivers for the Gamecocks, so we're pretty one-dimensional at WR thus far.....

 
I can't stand playing for the half, winners score at every opportunity, muschamp just tries not to get beat too badly. 

 
Gamecocks on the verge of either stepping up and fight, or giving up and getting blown out. They go 75 yds on a 4-play drive, culminating with a 29-yd TD reception by Shi Smith.

Gamecocks drive in their best offensive possession of the game yet. Hill spreads the ball to several receivers, with two big receptions by Muse, and a 20-yd big conversion by RB Deshaun Fenwick, before Hill tucks and runs it in from the UTjr. 1-yd line. Game is tied, 21-21......

Gamecock DB Mukuamu is out of the game right now, for some reason unknown to me. Cam Smith is in for him......

Smith is called for a big pass interference that puts the Vols down at the USC 15-yd line. Bad play. But Gamecocks defense holds the Vols out of the endzone, but they make the 27-yd FG to reclaim the lead.
