While there is SOME merit to that statement, I think the NIL thing is overblown in college baseball. Yes, some guys will go to greener pastures b/c there is more “green” to be had. But with the Gamecock program, there is a rabid fan base AND heritage/prestige behind the team. Young HS guys...
Monte Lee (HC), Jim Thoman and Landon Powell. Put the Tanner “band” (circa 2002/2003, in a solid run at the Natty season) back together and see what happens.
Gives LP a chance to test the waters at the D1 level and potentially slide into the HC spot later.
I’m going to have to differ with your opinion, but you’re certainly welcome to hold yours. I’m of the STRONG opinion that FT shooting, in large part is a coaching choice. If you don’t think that Mike White saw we couldn’t buy a bucket from behind the arc and that we were shooting less than 50%...
Here’s the reality… this is a VERY good team, that is one superstar forward short of being an NCAA contender. People look at their record and say “they’re good, but they’re not THAT good”. But looks can be deceiving. UGA put up 96 points in a loss to UK and 98 points in a loss to FL...
As @kingofnerf has already noted, this game has trap written all over it.
On paper, we out-everything Mizzou. The ONE area they excel in is at the FT line, and you better believe they will be doing everything they can against us to get there.
I also worry that defensively, they are quite...
Totally agree with those two things. Had a busy couple days so didn’t get to say anything pre or post game until now. Was really disappointed that Paris didn’t utilize Clark for both his leadership AND defensive prowess. Yes you lose offense with Clark, as he simply doesn’t shoot enough, but...
Well, wasn’t a 14 point victory, but WAS exactly what I expected. When we FINALLY started the driving to the basket and hedging outside with the bigs, was when we were able to score.
I would HATE to play against Vanover. Dude can block a shot standing 3 feet from you, so he doesn’t foul you...
Nope! I’m good to go now (thanks again @Tony for the assistance). I think it will be a much better showing for this game, for sure! Again, good guys by at least 11. (Though I think higher margin).
Here’s my take on things:
1.) Mizzou is a guard-driven team. We have the capacity b/c of our defensive capabilities to absolutely shut them down. But we will have to keep an eye on forcing them to shoot OUTSIDE and not inside. They’ve got capable 3 point shooters, but they’re just average...
With this game, truly, “the proof is in the pudding”. We don’t match up well with ‘Bama’s strengths, and they, like us, are built around a team of upperclassmen. They have 3 guys in double digits PPG, and one more JUST shy of it.
We’re gonna have to get out early and score inside, not just...
@Blitzkrieg you're not wrong. I was (and still am) a Frank guy too. But his demeanor was one where you had to WANT to play for him, knowing you’d get abused verbally. Most guys don’t want that these days, and that showed in his inability to recruit in the two years following the NCAA success...
Some good insights on our strengths and what we’ll see from future opposing coaches/teams. Gotta agree that we need MUCH more production on the offensive/defensive boards from guys like Josh Grey and BBV. Could have cost us the game, but the good guys fought and got shots to fall when it...
Gamecocks win 83-75. Defensive pressure causes too many turnovers for the Tiggers and points off turnover margin makes the difference. Look for much more inside shooting and lots of fouls/FTs on both sides of the ball.
51.4% tonight from behind the arc, with 28 made 3 pointers. New Gamecock team high for a single game. 5-7 FTs. 50% FG percentage. 4 starters with 10+ points, and bench contributions from all but Gray and Sparkman. REALLY good night, and against a VERY good GW team. Coach Paris may have...
Good win, but a strange one. ND “out-statted” us in some pretty important ways. Gotta get better at sharing the ball and getting more scorers involved. Winning the game with 3 guys is great, but I’d love to have others getting more time on the floor right now, and getting the workload shared...
