Corona virus, the non-asshole thread

My first antibody test finally came back. I have none for Covid-19.  Not sure whether to be relieved or disappointed. They didn't do anything with T-cells STS.
dang...was hoping you would have antibodies/immunity so you would be less at risk...the T-cells would be interesting but I assume those are harder to measure

Went to my primary care doctor today for annual physical.

Temp check at door

Answered a bunch of questions

Checked in, asked me if I answered no to questions.

Waited 5 minutes, got called back, Fun talking to my doctor about telehealth. He's old school. Not a big fan. But everything was sprayed down, masked up.

As I was leaving he said "stay patient, its going to be a while for this to calm down, like a long while." He is a big proponent of masks and social distancing.

I do an electronic sign in each day for work now and still work remote.  The 3 questions are always the same.  Do you have any of these symptoms, then lists off about 10 things.  Fatigue and headache are 2 of them.  How do I answer that truthfully when I'm always tired and often have a headache?  Then I have to tell them I haven't been out of the country since yesterday.

Bumping this thread. Since View Points is gone.

Arkansas and Missouri have quite the spike going on due to Delta Variant.

More and more Olympic athletes testing positive.

Any talk on what it would take to pull the plug on the Olympics?  I had the impression that Japan was leery about the whole thing anyway.

Fully vaccinated since 2-2.  Had a covid test last Wednesday prior to port insertion surgery tomorrow.  Nice negative result.  Otherwise Florida is voluntary joining a mass extinction event

I heard the same. I imagine now too much money involved?

I feel bad for the athletes not being able to perform in front of crowds. There is a lot gained from being cheered on.

Not to mention training for years and then when the time has come to compete you test positive.  Sucks for all involved.

Yea, was wondering if they completed the facilities with fans or no fans in mind.  This has to be a huge financial disaster.

I don't see any way they cancel now. It starts Friday and many athletes already there. Too much money involved.

I had read, a while back that only locals were going to be able to attend but maybe it’s been changed to no fans at all.

Just can’t imagine the amount of work these athletes put into this for a once (maybe a few times of so lucky) in a lifetime event. On a much much smaller scale I time for my daughters swim meets which last weekend we were in Northern Virginia for and they had no fans other than other swimmers and volunteers. We tried our hardest to cheer on every kid just to have some level of encouragement. Such an important part to the race day experience.

The olympics is a bad idea IMO...a heterogeneous crowd from all over the world...whatever could go wrong?

I am going today to either get the booster or the placebo...not sure which I want but it was rescheduled from a few weeks ago due to change in protocol...I will let you know my experience...this is the pfizer clinical trial

Oh wow, very cool! I'm a Prizer guy too and would love a booster.

I guess they are basing it on us...from what I understand they are going to draw blood and then give the shot...I go back every two months for blood draws to measure titer levels...I am not sure how much info they will tell me but I am happy to pass along what they say!   During the clinical trial I was given the placebo while my wife got the real vaccine last fall...I am hoping that we both have sore arms lol

Pretty sure I got the placebo....again...that just sums up my luck...I got the placebo during the clinical trial and again with a 1 in 4 chance of that happening...wife is going today and I will see if her experience is any different.  Our site only enrolled 65 people in the trial so we shall see how it goes...I was really hoping that since I got placebo during trial I would get the actual booster

If it makes you feel any better, I never had a single side-effect from either of my two shots. The Shingles vaccine, OTOH, knocked me on my azz.

hopefully you are correct but the second vaccine shot put me in bed for a day (the next day)...I guess we'll see lol
