In my neighborhood, I’ll say that if a kid starts to come down with a cold, a COVID test is done. No questions asked, almost routine now. Now as far as adults go….

I was at a charity event called Bourbon and Bow ties 2 weeks ago. It was outdoors but in a covered area. Event was packed, talking shoulder to shoulder people drinking bourbon and eating food. No one in our party of 8 had any issues other than hangovers. We are all vaccinated

They converted our break room to a post op unit (to make the original post op room a Covid unit) last week they reconverted it to a post op room. 

Maybe in a month or so we'll get our break room back lol.

Pfizer has officially requested EUA on the vaccine for 5-11 year olds. FDA is meeting on 26 Oct to decide. 

 
I read yesterday that Sweden and Denmark suspended Moderna vax to under people under the age of 30 due to some data showing increased risk of pericarditis and myocarditis.  Small numbers and most of the inflammation normalized after a period of time from the vaccination.  We are really in uncharted waters here.

That's got to be the worst side effect of all.  Trying to avoid that one.

Merck has submitted their oral anti-viral covid pill to the FDA for EUA. This could be huge for treatment that would allow folks to pop a few pills at home after getting covid, and hopefully keep them out of the hospital. 

 
Interesting article in the NY Times this morning (at least their moring email blast) regarding the severity of the age skew for Covid, stating "most people are “hugely underestimating” how large the age skew truly is.".  Nice chart breaking out hospitalizations by age group for both vaccinated and unvaccinated based on 9 months of 2021 data from state of Washington.
