Shane's staff: Let's fill in the blanks as we go

Connor may need to go the GA route. Seems that's kind of the path.

I would love to see G.A. Mangus as QB coach. He was also a good recruiter for us.
Is Mangus the one that got caught pissing in parking lot got find here under Spurrier?

Has any of his hires not been surprises?
Pretty much every one has been a surprise. All of the talk about who we were getting never was the case. I found Coach Beamer’s choices refreshing. I’m excited to see what they can do. None are re-treads, they all seem to be very qualified and successful, and are relatively young, and should have something to prove.

Yeah I know he was very good and he help Connor, but remember just need a clean slate if anything Connor father was a coach he practice under Mangus why not Connor?  I can see the jokes now pee freely. Would you say here that maybe he would be an retread?

I don't know if G.A. is a "retread" anymore than Satterfield is.

G.A. was a Div-III HC that was very successful, then he got hired by Rick Stockstill at MTSU as his OC. G.A. played for Steve at UF as a walk-on and Steve hired him away from MTSU to coach his QBs (Garcia) and probably help with his offense. It was G.A. and Eric Wolford that helped bring some new running schemes to Spurrier's offense. The following season is when we went full bore with zone run concepts/Shawn Elliott. And G.A. recruited Connor as well as some out of state guys that we normally would never get. G.A. also missed on some QBs....Connor Mitch was a big one that really hurt us.

But I do think Kevin Harris/Luke Doty would be a 2 headed monster in a zone run based offense. Shane Beamer has to know this.

How old is Mangus 60+? Any how I do not know why just time to move on.  I understand where you are coming from. Times have changed just need a fresh sheet of paper. Just me here thinking out loud.

What I like here:  Started being an DC in 2017 and was nominated 3 out of 4 years he has been the DC. WOW

Bio on White

Before I close om the Mangus thing. Why did he leave here? Head coach job wanted a fresh start was he beging to take heat here. Was not persuade by the coach to stay here. If I remember things where starting to go south and Connor was gone.

The whole "getting caught pissing in the street after a night out at a bar" thing didn't help either.

I always thought it was because Spurrier didn't want make the switch to the zone read like everyone else was doing at the time.

Mitch ran the zone read better than anyone else before getting hurt in the UNC game.

Elliott also seemed go towards a more traditional run game once he became the interim.

Or out hiking....I do it all the time....just gotta pick the right spot.
Sure. But you're not a mostly bankrupt person unfit to coach if you're willing about that place once. I'd rather a pisser than someone too arrogant to change their approach like cwm.

Surely people have stopped clutching their pearls over that by now
Maybe? I dunno. This is the same state and university that outlawed the USC band to play the "Low Brass Cheer" when I was a student because it had the word "hell" in it. At the time it was an optics issue for the Athletics Dept, I'm sure - an assistant being arrested on a nuisance charge and having his mugshot splashed all over the state's media isn't a good look. Personally I never gave af about it, but whether or not that incident still exists in the institutional memory of the Atheltics Dept ... I have no idea. But having Mangus in homes convincing parents that their kids were in good hands with him after that would have been a non-starter, IMO.
