*** USC (0-0/0-0) vs. #15 Tennessee (0-0/0-0) Game Thread ***

Really have no idea what to expect from this game. New OC, new QB, Civd has everything in a hot mess. Up until about a week ago I was not in football mood. But after wathcing some NFL games, and listening to Erik Kimmrey's podcasts, I am starting to feel it.

i was hopeful going into last season that the last 6 qtrs of the 2018 season was a disaster that we'd be able to analyze and get better from but instead it just was a sign of things to come without deebo.  i probably dont feel as good now as i did going into last season about the wr position, but knowing how things transpired i feel better than i do about last seasons group even without bryan edwards.  we lack size in our top 3, but i feel we have more speed and run after catch ability in the overall unit than we did last year with the young freshmen potentially giving us bigger targets.  the tight end position as well we lack the experience but overall i like this group's ability to make plays down the field.

tennessee should be a good gauge out of the gate for the receiving targets.  last year vs tenn we threw for over 300 yards and no int's but our yards per pass attempt wasnt good, and only one catch longer than 20 yards.  consistency is the key and showing the ability to make some explosive plays.

I have to say, I just am not expecting much from the Cocks this year. IMO muschamp needs to win more than 5 this year or he needs to be shown the door. Lets see if Bobo can put something together and save his buddy.

Kevin Harris getting the start carrying the rock.  Man I was ready to watch Lloyd in Bobo's offense.  I wish Harris well.  I will be looking to see if Fenwick, Amos or White can step up as well.  Fenwick looked good at times last year.  Let's hope.

I did  a quick look at our receivers. We actually have decent numbers at WR, even better at TE. The problem is that not many are proven outside of Shi (and Muse at TE) - Josh Vann has been decent but not outstanding, and we just got flashes of what Leggette can do,

We need someone like Vann to step it up, and maybe this is the year that Dreak da Freak is finally healthy long enough to contribute - he has talent. Plus, I would not be surprised to see more 2 TE sets - Bobo likes to pound it.

Bottom line, I am less worried about the pass catchers than I was before looking at it. If Hill can stay healthy and get the ball to them.
Football season is here, GAMECOCK fans are talking to themselves lol

I agree Ace, we have plenty of talent but not a lot of experience outside the our top threat at both WR and TE

Looking forward to seeing what Bobo has planned. My guess is we are going to be more pass happy than people think.

Coach Muschamp has a very special message for anyone going to the game today:

it is 2:30 am here, I am listening to the game on the gamecocks app on my phone and this might be some of the best hours of the year right now. Win! Fight! Kick Ass!

That drive was as awful as it could be.......Hill has a pass tipped up into the air, and instead of batting it down to the ground for no more than a loss of down, he catches it on a dive to the ground, for a sizable loss of yardage, AND the loss of down. This took it from 1st and 10 to 2nd and 21. Then, after a 5-yd pass play to make it 3rd and 16 at the USC 26 yd line, Hill throws a pick-six and UTjr. goes up 14-7. As implosive an offensive possession as could be....

One perhaps could understand a stuttering offense with the new OC and scheme in the 1st game of the season, but our defense has not been very effective thus far in the game, and that's supposed to have some talent and experience there....
