Will Frank Return?

Been seriously following Frank's teams since the 2013-14 season.

The teams have had a mentality like a bunch of spoiled, narcissistic, selfish women most of the time.

If the Final Four squad was on this year's team, one or more players would have already stepped up to try to save the season and Frank would have still been engaged in the season at this point instead of where he is at not.  Sin, Duane, somebody.

The academic Honor Roll kids were the ones that got the 20-win seasons and the FF run a few years ago.

From a leadership standpoint, the guys on this year's team are a bunch of scrubs.  That's why we're in this mess right now and most of them can hop in the portal as far as I'm concerned.
no need to be sexist to express your opinion.

Succinct and correct, Spork.

The difference being that one can coach his team up so that they are better than the sum of their parts, and the other can't.
definitely CWM did not make players get better. He did less with more. Frank has a history of doing more with less.

That's how they behave and it's probably going to cost the good man who gave them a chance to play at this level his job.
In what ways were their mannerisms femininate? please explain in a way that indicates you weren't implying that women are inherently worse than men. I look forward to learning how you weren't being sexist.

Our problem is narcissistic egotism with enough key players that it matters.

They behave like spoiled, high-maintenance women in games.  God help the man who marries one of those.  If you don't know what I am talking about, then you haven't been around much.

It's sexist as hell, but it's also the damned truth as far as some of our players are concerned.

I can't tell you how many times over the years I have watched the coaches stare in disbelief on the sidelines after a key timeout when the players don't do what Frank asked them to do.

Frank is just tired of having to fight it all the time.

Cool cool. Women are inferior to men. Gotcha.

Not all women are alike.  A old car or truck and good dog is all a man really needs after a certain point in life.

You're naive and overly sensitive.  You're also falling into the trap of putting women on a pedestal that most can't live up to.

I fear The Cross because I am a sinner like everyone else, including yourself and all women.  Don't fall into the trap of making someone of the opposite sex a savior because no one can ever live up to it but Christ himself.  That means I treat women as human beings rather than wasting time being disappointed in them over something they can never live up to.

There's a difference.

You need to get over yourself.  LOL

Nerf, I think that what you are trying to say is that they act like spoiled kids that do whatever they want and do not listen.

The real issue is that Frank is demanding of his players, and some just don't get it. Others get it eventually, which is why we do better when players stick for four years.

Spork is 100% right - the team was doomed this year when it started losing practice and game time. There is no way they were going to be able to figure everything out in time. Plus we lost Kotsar, and that made Frink even more important - going with a Freshman and two Sophomores inside has kept us from gelling.
That's correct but most will never see the NBA and want individual glory rather than team glory while they can get it in the SEC.

We put their faces all over social media and over-hype them only to get very little in return for the hype.

But the hype goes to their head and Frank can't do anything with them on game day.

They think they are better than they really are.  High maintenance.

Spurrier was the only other coach in basketball or football that was able to do that. The original Frank had boatloads of talent, the current Frank has been able to keep us competitive (until this year) by getting less talented guys to buy in to his system.
Again...Dave Odom has twice as many 20 plus win seasons...twice as many post season tournament invites...two NIT titles...another final...and just as many NCAA bids...while compiling an identical winning %...in 7 years as Frank does in 9. Franks entire claim to fame is the Final Four run with the only team in USC history with three NBA players on it...possible the single most talented team in modern history.

Only other team may be Folgers 1997 SEC Championship Team that went 15-1 in Conference with BJ McKie, Larry Davis and Melvin Watson...none of which went on to the NBA

Do you believe Dave Odom was a far better recruiter than Frank Martin? Or Coach?

Not to mention that Spurrier won here with the single best collection of talent in Gamecock History...and it isn't even close

Is this real?

Dave Odom never won on the road in the SEC like Frank Martin has.

Home SEC games and OOC wins.  That's why the NIT stuff is all he ever really got us if you look at his record.

That's it.

Let's flip it around and pit Dawn's squad against Frank's.

The men would have an advantage easily in physicality, but the women would dominate in terms of being coachable by the same amount.

That's why they were the #1 recruiting class in the nation.  So in that sense, Frank's guys need to play like a bunch of girls.

As individual players, Frank's guys just aren't that good.  However, they could be much better playing together as a team.

They have decided not to do that, probably because they thought the season no longer mattered at a certain point and here we are.

It's the same as winning an important game together then losing the next few games as individuals before Covid.  That is why the team hasn't made the NCAAT the past few years.

You can set your watch by it.

And Odom has four fewer NCAA wins - the NIT titles just mean that we were the 69th best team in the NCAA.

Wanna guess how many winning seasons Odom had in the SEC? I will give you a hint - it is the same number that I have. Martin has had four - despite inheriting a much worse team than Odom got from Fogler. And Frank had to deal with a stronger SEC.

I realize that you caveated by using the word "modern", but the best talent we ever had was John Roche, Tom Riker, Kevin Joyce and Tom Owens in 1970-1971. But if you are looking at pro success, try 1972-1973 - Brian WInters, Kevin Joyce, Alex English and Mike Dunleavey. three pros from the Final Four are not stars - Sin averaged 8 points in 2019-2020, but outside of that, no one has averaged as much as 4 points per game in any other season. While they have had a hard time sticking on rosters.

I will concede that Spurrier won with solid talent - but we were beating teams with even more talent. Spurrier had one Top Ten class (#7) but average class ranking was about the same as Muschamp - whose average class rank was #21. But Spurrier did a hell of a lot more with his talent.
I'll be happy to explain how the NCAA tournament ACTUALLY works later on but if..."the NIT titles just mean that we were the 69th best team in the NCAA"...was even sort of true, based on anything approaching fact/logic or the slightest bit accurate...what would not even making the NIT...let alone winning it multiple times...mean?

Losing makes me angry.   So I've been angry a lot this season.   Now that I've calmed down from last night,  I still think Frank will be back next season.  I'm leaning that way.  Of course I don't really know.   It would not be a surprise if he is replaced, but I still lean toward him returning.  If he does return, I'm good with that.   I like Frank overall.  Sometimes he does some things I don't understand, but nobody said I have to understand everything.

I did like it last night that he started two bigs.   I have thought we should have been doing that all season.   I did like it last night that our bigs scored quite a bit.  That has been lacking this season.   I like for our bigs to score a lot.   I think that McCreary, Leveque, Minott and Frink will be a formidable bunch of bigs next season, assuming they are all back.   I hope Frank will start two bigs next season instead of playing minaya at the 4.

Ah, so women are humans just not as good as men. I understand you better now. Is this part of your religious beliefs?
