Your top candidate for new OC

Lane Kiffen.
If I had to guess he will end up at fsu, if fsu is smart. Arky will go for him also but I think Lane knows the politics are too heavy over in Hawgville. Of course, if they offer him an insane amount of cash he will jet to Arky in a second.

I have been hearing quite a bit of rumblings here in my area that Fuente may be leaving Virginia Tech for Arkansas...anyone else hearing this?
I don't know but thats someone I wanted for our last search.

This is from Josh Kendall's column in today's The Athletic:

"There’s no reason not to make a bold hire. Given Muschamp’s own job status, he’s probably not going to be able to attract a hot candidate like Chad Morris, and he doesn’t have to worry about winning the press conference. The only thing that matters is finding someone who can get first downs.

The good news is that there are many good football coaches out there, if someone is willing to search far enough and wide enough. It’s time for Muschamp to follow Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy’s lead. In 2013, Gundy searched the Internet to find his next offensive coordinator and ended up hiring Mike Yurcich out of Shippensburg University, a Division II school. Yurcich kept the Cowboys among the nation’s elite in offense for six years before being hired away by Ohio State this season.
Gundy told ESPN in 2017 that he didn’t think other Power 5 coaches would be confident enough to make a similar hire.

“No chance,” Gundy said then. “I don’t care what people think. They can go fly a kite for all I care. Nah, most people aren’t going to be strong enough in their own skin to say there’s a guy at Division II or wherever that’s the best coach for a major Power 5 conference school that had been in the top five in offense year after year after year.” Division II, Division III, it shouldn’t matter to Muschamp. Heck, hire a high school coach. Those guys are pretty tricky."

All the more reason to hire G.A. He is a former HC and OC.

Fuente was a hot name back when he hit the market, IIRC he didn’t want our rebuild project in the SEC.

From what I’ve read and been told from some VT peeps they haven’t been happy with him.

He's definitely underachieved at VT.

Lot of HBC’s getting fired, there’s going to be a fair number of OC’s on the market.

Just saw that Chris Peterson at U of Washington has decided to quit after the bowl game, there’d been some rumors linking him to the NFL.

His OC there has succeeded at several programs, has a bit of time in this part of the country with Davidson and the Atlanta Falcons. Looks like he’s a pass happy guy

I don't know if it was as much he didn't want it as it was v tech was a better job. Can't blame him there.

Some interesting points made here that is worth the watch.

Cliff Notes:

Progress is being made

W-L record often comes last

S&C has been an issue with recurrent injuries to key players being a major problem

Muschamp needs to leave his comfort zone of putting out the same product that everyone else in the Saban tree is doing

Create an individual offensive identity and brand that is unique to USC.

References to what Chip Kelly did to make Oregon unique and competitive.

I'm having a hard time disagreeing with it.

Question is whether or not we can find the coaches to fill the role and make it happen.

What needs to happen at Carolina on offense is going to take more than a HS coach. Yes we have a little talent in the fold but the offense will probably be a total over haul and that will take someone who has done it before. It will also take someone with some clout, part of his job will be having to tell CWM he is wrong or NO we cant do that.
