Your top candidate for new OC

why would an OC come to our dumpster fire?  It seems to me that as long as Muschamp is a dead man walking that coming here would be a huge risk to anyone worth a salt
I just don't understand how Tanner thinks any quality coach will jump through hoops to come to USC for a year. We are most likely putting off the inevitable. I would not be surprised to hear about some of our better coaches jumping ship this year.

What needs to happen at Carolina on offense is going to take more than a HS coach. Yes we have a little talent in the fold but the offense will probably be a total over haul and that will take someone who has done it before. It will also take someone with some clout, part of his job will be having to tell CWM he is wrong or NO we cant do that.
You mean like Hugh freeze or chad Morris? Who would be hungrier to get the job done than a proven winner. We’re not a coaching magnet stop. We might have to bring in someone who has an innovative mind but isn’t a big name

Chad Morris would be great if we had skill players to fit his system.  We don’t and with Muschamp basically having one year to turn it around I think Morris could be a big mistake.

I think we need an OC and play caller who has proven (over multiple years) he can do more with less.  Cuz that’s what our offense is right now.  Stay away from the big names who are great with superior talent.  They’ll be lost here.  I’m thinking a guy like Kentucky has.  500 rushing yards against Louisville with a WR at qb.  That’s how you make adjustments mid season when nothing is working.  We need a guy like that.  No clue who it is though.

thats my issue with chad morris as well, i dont believe hes the best guy for a quick fix.  there are multiple other candidates who have taken over bad offenses and had immediate turnarounds more recently than he has.  his first two stops in college football he led a 40 spot increase in yards per play at tulsa then a 50 spot increase at clemson, but by the time next season rolls around 10 years will have passed since his lone season at tulsa.

his next two stops he took over as head coach at smu and arky.  the year before he got to smu they were 127th in yards per play, that went to 95th, 82nd, 21st in his 3 years there.  at arky they were 67th in yards per play before he got there, 118th and 102nd in his 2 years there.  defenses catching up and rule changes have hampered his offenses to a degree the same way a decade ago chip kelly was an innovative offensive genius now hes had back to back years of 80th and 98th in yards per play after taking over a team whose offense that was 21st the year before he got there.

Heath Kline made the point that Morris will want to go where his son, a 2020 4* QB, will get a scholly.  In other words, if we hired him and signed the son, that might put Doty in jeapordy.  Not only that, I'm not sure I want another qb who's dad is on the coaching staff....all the drama (real or imagined by fans) was ridiculous.

Freeze, Morris's offenses will not and has not made it in the SEC. The dlines are good good and fast for the popcorn bubble screens. We pretty much proved that for 5 years in a row. Then it was shut down in Arky. I agree about the big name OC, very unlikely we could land someone like a Freeze. It will probalby have to be a young guy who wants to prove himself. Problem with that is, will he be able to stand up to CWM and tell him to keep out of his offense ??

At this point it's Kalen Deboer and then everybody else. He has IU scoring 32 plus a game out of nowhere. Finished second in the Big Ten offensively...at UI.  He went 67-3 with 3 National Titles as a NAIA head coach and then done nothing but climb the ladder from there. IU took inferior talent and gave almost everybody a game based almost exclusively on being able to score points. 8-4 with their schedule...4 losses are to #1 OSU, #10 PSU...by 7, #14 Mich and Mich State by 8 I think. With their players and their history...that is big time. Forget the old veteran on the way back down the ladder...give me the Lincoln Riley, Eli Drinkwitz, etc. type on the way up.

*Bonus points for being the guy who works directly with the QB's to run the offense.

**Also key to point out that he has been calling plays...the offense...on some level for close to 20 years...this isn't someone who just got the job and is doing great...he has been doing a great job every where he has ever been for close to two decades and yet he is still only 45 years old.

That's a lot of success for Deboer. Seems to me that he should be looking for a head coaching job, not an OC job.

He seems to be a good coach for sure. He will have to be a relentless recruiter that can close the deal to work for CWM.

You may be on to something, I am seeing DeBoer's name coming up more and more.  Curious if he would see that as an opportunity or too big of a risk.

Would Skip Holtz make a move if he was promised HCIW? Just throwing things out there. But I read somewhere his QBs have alwyas been top produces in their league at La.

How funny would that be...Muschamp was going to be HCIW at Texas and he got tired of waiting for Brown to retire. Now its he who needs to leave...

All of freeze offenses are better than anything we have this year

It looks like Bobo may be the likely hire. Really hope he or who ever takes the OC position can turn things around.

I hope not.  If we go that route then might as well fire Muschamp now.

Like the idea of the IU OC.

Why do you say that?  I always thought Bobo was a very competent OC.

Muschamp cant afford to take a chance on this hire.

Think he was ok at uga with lots of talent but feel like it’s the same old OC Muschamp has gone with.  I think you need to go outside the SEC and get an OC who has won with less talent.
