Beamer

No rush. Losing a few recruits are well worth getting the right guy.
I agree with that, but the more coaches get fired, the closer we get to the situation that caused us to hire Muschamp.

Which should have never been allowed to happen....there were plenty of other options, just don't think our AD understood.

Thanks! As jaded as I am from the Brad Scott debacle, Shane might be the exception to the "hire a proven" coach rule.

I have no expectations of winning titles....just get us back to 8-10 wins/season and let's see what happens from there.

Maybe a magical season will come along.

Thanks, this was an great article on Beamer everyone with doubts should read it  I think he might just be the guy , I do have expectations  of winning it's the SEC  to start , and then getting to  the playoffs and who knows from there.   Just look at Dawn she does not want to finish second. That should be the standard  win  baby just win .

I was on the fence with Beamer, but after reading an few articles on him , I think that they should pull the trigger and get the guy , I also really like Derick Mason as D.C. Coach if I were the A.D. that would be an must hire.

I'm still not sure, but I'm not making the decision, so it doesn't really matter.  But, I have become much more comfortable with Beamer.  He seems to have a thorough knowledge of football.  I'm sure he would have a learning curve at first, but if he's as smart as I think he is, he will surround himself with knowledgable assistants who can give him good advice.

I just really hope that the serious choices are Napier, Beamer, and Chadwell.  I don't think we would go wrong with any of those, but I do think Beamer offers the greater upside.

agree

I'm intrigued with the Derrick Mason part of this discussion. I think he would be a great choice for DC.  I don't know if he has relationships with Beamer, Napier or anyone else under consideration but he has great defensive credentials even though he wasn't successful as a head coach.

Totally agree, especially if Beamer is the choice.

Kornblut is sticking to his guns on the Beamer hire.

The pace quickened considerably Tuesday leaving us with just one conclusion. It’s a matter of when, not if, Shane Beamer is named the new coach. It could happen anytime between Friday and Monday. Tuesday morning a source shared with us information that Billy Napier wasn’t strongly pursuing the job any longer. Napier was on Ray Tanner’s list for an in-person interview this week. That looks doubtful now. In fact, we get the feeling the interview process may be over, though we have no confirmation on that. Steve Sarkisian, Brian Johnson and Scott Satterfield also were expected to be interviewed this week.

A source told us Tuesday night that when university officials were sensing that Steve Spurrier was coming to the end of his time, then AD Eric Hyman was asked if he could identify a current or former staff member under Spurrier as someone who had the makeup to be a successful head coach. He identified Beamer.
Interesting if true.

I am glad  you agree I have been saying we need Derick Mason , but not sure he has ties with anyone interviewing for the job, unless the pres. just says were going go get Mason to come here with you .   That he makes  the call , to Mason.   I like Beamer or Napier as the head guy or Sark. They have got to knock this out of the park .   I keep hearing rumbling of Brown .

And he has those vests going for him...

I'd be happy with Mason also, but have no idea if there is any connection to the HC candidates.  The one thing that will turn off a HC from coming to SC is if the school president starts making coaching "suggestions", so other than input into the HC hire itself, I'd prefer President Caslen not become involved in staffing decisions.

If true, this hire will cement Ray's place in USC history. If Beamer succeeds, Ray was the one guy who saw his potential and fought to make it happen. If it fails he will have overseen not one but two bad hires in the single most important coaching position at USC, and frankly Caslen will be painted as an enabler who let him do so. High drama!

I would say Ray's place is cemented by bring Back to back CWS Championships. But I agree with his place with regards to being an AD.
