Corona virus, the non-asshole thread

I got the call and I am going at lunch...I was in the placebo (again lol) of the booster trial and they are moving me to the booster so I will get my booster today...I will be interested to see how I feel lol

Not only are the vaccines extremely effective against getting the virus, they are extraordinarily good at stopping serious cases and death if you are part of the 3-5% of active cases that are breakthroughs.

the problem with the vaccines is that they were not all the same and IMO a good bit of the initial hesitancy was the fact that a particular one tended to have many side effects compared to the others...it iwll be interesting to see what happens if/when the mRNA vaccines get FDA approval b/c then mandates can begins

The current hesitancy is based in nothing remotely approaching science as opposed to playing the statistical odds (which I get)...as rare as death may be there are 600k+ and counting who probably wish they had the opportunity to have had the vaccine to given them odds to beat the virus

Oh Lord, don't let my relatives read this. They are big deer meat eaters and won't get the vaccine because they'll think they're immune from eating them.
LOL...I can totally see that with some of the folks we have around here as well...I was wondering if we could mask up the deer?  Would you hook it on the ears or antlers on the bucks?

I read somewhere that the LSU tiger mascot got vaccinated…
it does beg the question that could our pets serve as spreaders?  Or even animals like rats/pigeons etc in larger cities...

it had never crossed my mind that it could jump to other species (well I guess it did jump to humans from bats in wet markets)

My town’s restaurant association just announced its members will start requiring proof of vaccination to dine indoors as of Aug. 16.

and what are the penalties for ignoring this requirement?  How to enforce?  On the spot antibody testing or just the piece of paper than can easily be counterfeited? That being said they can do what they want with private business in my opinion so good for them!  I would fear some collateral damage from these kind of rules (however)
