Frank Is Gone

We need to get this guy back, because he's been gone for a while.

Not the wimpy Kojak wannabe guy, this guy.

9 years! Memories don't create W's NOW!
That is true but I hear saying this was a bad hire and I don't think that was the case. It was a good hire at the time and Frank did improve the program for a time. Whether he stays or he goes, he is no Darrin Horn or Brad Scott.

OK...it's being reported that Frank met with Tanner at 4 o'clock and Frank still has Tanner in a headlock.  :animated-smileys-sport-046:

I admit to being absolutely baffled by what this thread seems to be trying to argue at this point

I don't count Frank's first two seasons when considering his post season accomplishments.   He was trying to build the program from the bad place it was in after Horn.   I also don't count last season because there were no post season tournaments last year.    And to be generous, I don't count this season because of Covid.   So instead of nine seasons, I'm counting five.   One Final Four, and one NIT in five seasons.   4 ncaa tournament wins in five seasons.   If you look at it that way, Frank has not done so badly.  I understand that others might view things differently, and that's ok with me.    We all have our opinions.   I understand those who want to keep Frank longer, and those who think it is time for a change.  Both sides have arguments to make.   My opinion doesn't carry any weight.   Its going to be up to Caslen and Tanner, and maybe some others.

For the past several years our players in football and men's basketball have blatantly played like they can do anything they want on game day without being held accountable for it afterwards.

Nobody else plays as bad as we do and that pattern points to the next level up.

We got our guy already.  He just needs to be pumped back up and get back in the saddle if there are no major health issues.

Over the years Frank has actually been the one who has lived up to the nickname of Boom than Muschamp.

Boynton is okay, but he's not on the same level as Frank.

How many years does he have left on his current contract?

The longer it takes for Tanner to meet with Martin means:  1. Frank stays?, 2.  Frank goes? 3. When the meeting takes place is irrelevant?

I would love to poll local players that USC lost in recruiting and get their reasons for not coming here. I have a feeling it has more to do with Coach Martin than any other factor. I think it's just that he's not the best of recruiters and that he has a bad reputation for being firey and hot-headed. Top 100 kids dream of the 1-and-done scenario and that goes against Frank Martin's philosophy and preaching, so I always have thought that may factor into the decisions made by these kids. Plus, the local kids and coaches see him screaming his head off during games. I bet kids from further away don't know anything about that or just see glimpses.
Agreed. Put yourself in their shoes. Why would you want to play for Frank Martin?

Zion Williamson, right there for the taking. 1 and done type if there ever was one. He has to spend a year in college, you think he wants to spend it with a prick like Martin? It is not just the hard handed stuff, players can respond to that if they respect the man giving the tough love. Watch that last chance show on Netflix, now thats a coach kids are drawn too, he screams and yells with the best of them. We need a guy like that. A guy that everyone respects.
