Yeah, I don't know.  I would just feel more comfortable with somebody like Freeze who has proven it at the highest level in college.  As long as we win, that's all I care about.
Personally he would be my top choice, I think he's learned a lesson and it's only a matter of time before a p5 program picks him up.

Unfortunately you guys are in for a disaster. BoBo is the worst coach in Colorado State history, he completely drove our program into the ground in a time when we needed to take advantage of a new stadium and top notch facilities.

He completely ignored the defense and acted as an offensive coordinator. Also was accused of running a racially incentive program, that cost CSU over a million dollars in investigations. Horrible head coach and leader. Keeps his head buried in the playbook and a poor gameday coach
Most interim coaches do not get the interim tagged removed. He is a logical choice for interim right now, though I wish SC would have gone with someone else (like Bentley), since Bobo is new to SC. I am hoping Bobo isnt a finalist for the permanent HC here.

It's the south not colorado. apparently CWM is a good person despite defending a coach who's approach literally killed a player. I'm sure BoBo will be accepted just fine. Probably the biggest dig against him will be that he hasn't been around SC long enough.

I do not want a man that could not win at PC coaching here.

This is weird timing.  If memory serves we could've saved a few million by waiting another month or two.  The AD is trying to close a $44 million hole this year as well.  I hope they got donors to pony up a bunch of $$$, not sure this year of all years is the time to have to pay buyouts for a whole coaching staff that's leaving as well as paying buyouts to hire a new coaching staff.  I get that it allows us to start our search early, but last time that search lead to our top prospects going to UGA (Smart) and turning us down (Herman) I believe.

Here's hoping this doesn't come around to bite us in the ass.

Seems pretty strange for a CSU fan to set up an account just to say this, especially since we're 2-5 and have 3 games left which is all the head coaching that Bobo will be doing here.

All his current and former players absolutely love the guy fwiw.

I'm not saying they don't. Just saying that getting 18-24 yo kids to like you is not a characteristic of being a good person. And he did side with the coach who's abusive approach to practices killed someone. That's a bigger indicator of character, imo

I see that as kneejerk sticking up for a friend fwiw, nothing more than that.  Would've been a better idea to keep his mouth shut, but it is what it is. From everything I've heard (not just the kids) he's a great guy too.  Horrible head coach, obviously.

There's been plenty of time to recant what he said. I'm pretty sure he said it multiple times. That's not a kneejerk reaction.

When you say he's a great guy, what are we talking about? I'm very willing to believe it, but all i hear is that his players like him. Thats not a good person that a popular person.

Nothing specific unfortunately....it was just things posted on twitter by Gamecock accounts (not anonymous ones).  It may very well fall into the "popular" category I guess.

It goes without saying that the number of people saying he was a great guy who also worked at The State was exactly zero though lol.

Ha. I mean when have they had anything good to say about this program. FTR, I'm not saying he's a horrible person. I just haven't seen any evidence that he's a good person and supporting that coach was a bad decision.

Yeah we want a guy who couldn’t even be a successful OC at Clemson
Your apparent Football IQ and handle on the last 12-13 years of Napier's career is impressive!

Fun Fact(s): When Napier was named Clemson OC and QB coach by then new coach Dabo Swinney he was 29 years old and was the single youngest coordinator in the nation and Clemson history...he then went on to set the single season scoring record in Clemson history at the time...considered one of the best recruiters in the country...he is actually still given partial credit for getting Clemson to the #2 ranked recruiting class in the nation in 2008 which helped turn the tide that started their ascent to becoming one of the best programs in the last decade plus.

After that he went to work for Nick Saban at Bama for half a decade where he helped win a couple more national titles. When he was at CSU he basically got McElwain the Florida job...he then gets the OC/QB job at ASU where he does nothing but kill it so during the head coaching change there he gets offered the ULa head job...still in his 30's at this point...and has done nothing but excel from there...as I type this the Ragin Cajuns are ranked in the top 25...as is Liberty and Coastal...Freeze...is a great coach and I would embrace the hire...but has a TTTOOONNNNN of baggage...Chadwell simply doesn't have the resume...Napier is the next young coach to get that next big job.

I am on the record saying we should have made the move a year earlier and gone after Drinkwitz who took the Missouri job...and just beat LSU...Napier is that guy plus some...young...offensive minded...super recruiter...holds his kids accountable and they love him to death...etc.

South Carolina does not need another past their prime old man with a hall of fame career somewhere else just so the less informed can say they have heard of him before...we need young and coming not old and fading...for me its Napier first...by far...and Freeze second...Freeze is a great football coach and has proven he can win games no matter where he is...but has a filthy bag of laundry attached to his name and legacy...I haven't heard a name I consider close to those two guys...we will see

And my vote is for Chadwell. Along with a big bucks hire for a DC.

DCs have to be very aggressive to be successful now - lots of blitzes and creative ways to put pressure on the QB, Boom had the opposite philosophy - rush four and give cushions so you do not get beat.
Too bad we couldn't just keep Muschamp on but move him to DC....we'd be paying that money regardless.

I wonder if his contract explicitly precludes such a thing. Like getting out of the buyout by giving him a "DC or no $" ultimatum.

Chadwell does have the resume - 22-14 at North Greenville, 35-14 at CSU (playoffs the last two years). At Coastal, he went from 3-9 to 5-7 and now 7-0.

His background is on the offensive side - OC and QB coach. At 43, he could could be our coach for 20 years.

And, unlike Napier and Freeze, he knows the state very well.
Napier played QB at Furman...and then coached at both Clemson and South Carolina State...as well as...Alabama, Colorado State and Arizona State...ACC/SEC/Pac-12 and now Sunbelt...has multiple conference and national championship rings...OC/QB/WR coach...41 years old...universally considered a top recruiter...Chadwell is 15-16 at CCU...Napier is 24-11 at Louisiana...not sure what I'm missing...and I like Chadwell

If the players on defense are too slow, it doesn't matter anyway. This requires a full reboot.

Did Freeze do anything other than buy prostitutes for recruits?
