Fun Fact(s): When Napier was named Clemson OC and QB coach by then new coach Dabo Swinney he was 29 years old and was the single youngest coordinator in the nation and Clemson history...he then went on to set the single season scoring record in Clemson history at the time...considered one of the best recruiters in the country...he is actually still given partial credit for getting Clemson to the #2 ranked recruiting class in the nation in 2008 which helped turn the tide that started their ascent to becoming one of the best programs in the last decade plus.

After that he went to work for Nick Saban at Bama for half a decade where he helped win a couple more national titles. When he was at CSU he basically got McElwain the Florida job...he then gets the OC/QB job at ASU where he does nothing but kill it so during the head coaching change there he gets offered the ULa head job...still in his 30's at this point...and has done nothing but excel from there...as I type this the Ragin Cajuns are ranked in the top 25...as is Liberty and Coastal...Freeze...is a great coach and I would embrace the hire...but has a TTTOOONNNNN of baggage...Chadwell simply doesn't have the resume...Napier is the next young coach to get that next big job.

I am on the record saying we should have made the move a year earlier and gone after Drinkwitz who took the Missouri job...and just beat LSU...Napier is that guy plus some...young...offensive minded...super recruiter...holds his kids accountable and they love him to death...etc.

South Carolina does not need another past their prime old man with a hall of fame career somewhere else just so the less informed can say they have heard of him before...we need young and coming not old and fading...for me its Napier first...by far...and Freeze second...Freeze is a great football coach and has proven he can win games no matter where he is...but has a filthy bag of laundry attached to his name and legacy...I haven't heard a name I consider close to those two guys...we will see

This is a good article on why Freeze makes perfect sense...hard to argue with most of it...it even touches on why we will...and should...overlook the SEC ban, past issues and undeniable baggage attached to Freeze...again...Freeze would be a great hire...especially coming off the job he is doing at Liberty right now after the forced 'time-out' away from the conference...I'm simply team Napier...really hope its one of these two:

BTW...how much more interesting did the App State vs Coastal and Liberty vs NC State Games  get this weekend?

With the Ragin Cajuns playing App State on Dec 4th and Liberty playing Coastal on Dec. 5th?

Liberty has a chance to beat 3 different ACC teams this weekend...crazy...that being said...Go Pack!!

Interesting article. The author implies USC has the funds to make this happen. 

If Gen Caslen is ok with it, I am. End of the day, business is business. 

Their last game is 12/5, besides a bowl game. Probably hear something 2nd week of Dec.

Freeze and Napier are 1a and 1b imo. I like both, more partial to Freeze, just because he's proven he can win at a mid tier SEC W program.

 
FWIW SportsTalkSC was saying on twitter that their sources say we won't go after Freeze.

Anyone know why we aren't pursuing Stoops from UK?

Stoops is an Ohio guy.  Probably likes being that close and can recruit there.

I doubt many...if anyone here...actually saw this game but just to show how close this game actually was...it was tied at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd...with each team scoring the same amount in each quarter...back and forth with-in each quarter...it was then tied again until Coastal hit a 40 yard FG with 4 seconds left to win 30-27.

This game was so insanely close...that when the game was over...The Ragin Cajuns had gained 413 yards of total offense and Coastal had gained 414 total yards...the difference here was a single yard and a single play...with 4 seconds left on the clock.

Without looking and being totally ignorant of his pay, or really recalling whether he's an O or D coach, I'd think he'd be a good fit for us and we could pay him more.

Or at least we probably could have.  

But of course this might just be me refusing to accept reality.  Talk about doing less with more...that's UK.
