The staff
I'm not a fan of the Mike Bobo move for a number of reasons...but Kitchings, the Steele/Williams combo and Torrian Gray are elite...Gray has coached more DBs to the NFL than almost anybody...ever.

I'm assuming in this breakdown Steele and/or Mason are the D-Line coach as well?

The born in South Carolina vibe is strong here...Beamer, Kitchings, Kimrey, Steele and Williams are all Sandlappers

Pete Lembo as well.  Memphis assistant head coach/special teams coordinator, in similar role.
Pete Lembo is being described as a 'Special Teams Guru'...I like the sound of that...his record/resume/bio is pretty insane

"Recognized as one of college football’s top special teams tacticians, Lembo markedly improved what was already one of the country’s top units. In one season, Lembo had the Memphis special teams make a leap up the ESPN Team Efficiency Rankings from 59th in 2018 – season prior to his arrival at Memphis – to 2nd in 2019. The Tigers also earned college football’s highest rating for “Special Teams Points Added” from Championships Analytics Inc., and were ranked in the top-10 for overall special teams by FootballOutsiders.com. The UofM special teams ranked in the top-10 in six NCAA/FBS statistical categories: kick-return yards (2nd), kick-return TD (2nd), blocked kicks (6th), blocked punts (6th), kickoff touchbacks (6th) and kick returns (9th). The Tigers led The American in kick returns, kick-return yards, kick-return TD and kickoff touchbacks. In addition, Memphis led the FBS in average starting field position after kickoffs (33.3 yard line) and returned 10 kickoffs that allowed the offense to begin drives beyond the 40-yard line. On the flip side, the UofM’s kick-return defense permitted only one kick return to cross the 30-yard line in 14 games. Lembo’s unit allowed its special teams stars to shine. Kicker Riley Patterson and kick-return specialist Antonio Gibson were named to the All-American Athletic Conference first team, and Gibson also was honored as the league’s co-Special Teams Player of the Year. Patterson, who set an FBS bowl record with six FG in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, ranked among the final FBS statistical leaders in FG percentage (6th), FG made (7th) and FG made/game (17th). Gibson was ninth in kick-return yards/game and 21stin combined kick-return yards. Preston Brady, Patterson’s holder, received the Mortell Award as the nation’s most outstanding holder in 2019. Brady, a versatile special teams performer, recovered an onside kick to seal the win over SMU and scored a two-point conversion in the victory at Louisiana-Monroe. For his efforts, Lembo was the lone special teams coordinator nominated (41 nominees) for the Broyles Award, which is given annually to nation’s top assistant coach. He also was one of three finalists for FootballScoop.com’s Special Teams Coordinator of the Year honor."

Sounds like a lot of developments while I was of-line yesterday. Glad to see our staff coming together. So is the DC the only position still open?

I knew nothing of Lembo until I heard his name mentioned on here, but if he’s everything he appears to be, I’m stoked about hiring him!

Also, how sure is everyone that the DC is down to Steele or Mason?  Depending on where you read, Bateman had seemed to be the front runner.

I think those two names gathered more weight after a couple of articles ... but it's all speculation until the names are announced. Could be somebody completely different.

One of my best friends from HS is a CSU alum and huge CSU fan ... and not a fan of Bob's tenure as HC there. But he was the first to tell me that he didn't feel there was anything to the racial stuff there. All these kids were recruited by champ, and he just got fired. I think this is just part of the dust settling.
Is there any reason to put any stock in this opinion? Sc alums and huge sc fans have wildly different opinions about our former coaches and none of them were accused of anything nearly as influenced by political opinion as being racist

Only because the friend of mine isn't one to gloss over such things for the sake of ruby-colored glasses in regards to football (like me, if anything, he is knee-jerk in the other direction). But like you said, it's just the opinion of one person who observed the program and as we know, any two fans can look at a program and see two WILDLY different things. Just thought I'd add it to the discussion to get a CSU voice.

I appreciate the extra context.

Has any of this been proven?  I don’t care about accusations, because anyone can say anything about anyone. If it’s true, fry him. If it’s not, fry the person who made the false allegations. Until either has been proven, it doesn’t exist as far as I’m concerned.

Welcome coach Lembo
As far as I can find on the internet there doesn't seem to be a better Special Teams coach in football...super hire...'Beamer Ball' is a very real thing and making special teams a priority on this level is proof of it...great hire

I must admit I did not really know who he was, but the more I read the more I like and special teams have not been good for a while.  I keep thinking about Hayden Hurst back there waving off punts lol.   Maybe this guy helps Dak find his place on  the field

I really did not care for Bobo's choice as far as starting QB, but even with Hill in there, he did have some creative plays. With the right HC, we may see the Bobo that won so much at UGA.

I really don't think we will know our complete staff until all the games are completed. I just feel Beamer is after some coaches that are busy with bowl games.

That's a fine personal position. Admirable even. But if a player or players believe it, then it's a problem fair or otherwise
