Evaluating Muschamp tenure at the helm so far

There is a reason no other school offered him at QB
He had offers from quite a few schools. Interesting how his team's board is the one putting out false info about that. I know some folks at Bama, UGA and some other schools that made offers. Not sure where his not being offered myth comes from but here is a link to a UGA page about their interest in him back then:

Clemson is the only school I know of that recruited him as an athlete.

he did not have commitable offers at Bama or UGA

I know folks in Tuscaloosa and Athens very close to those programs and they say otherwise.

IF, Joyner had 11 offers, including 6 ACC schools and 4 SEC Schools, plus Oregon. Considering that he has never played another position and would be a total reach, your constant "no other school offered him as a QB" is both wrong and irritating. You need a new schtick.

We have not seen what Joyner can do yet - it is unfortunate that he had the hamstring injury that has hobbled him. But he already beat out the older Urich and will get a chance to play more ver the next few games,
Keep up the faith man. Joyner will never play any serious QB for this team.

I don’t think he will either because we have better QBs and next year Doty may push all of them.

But you say that as if it were a slight to him.  Kind of a jerk post.  I listened to his pregame interview yesterday and I can tell you he’s a kid we absolutely want on our team.  Great attitude and he’s a winner.  Also impressed with Finwick.  Say what you will about Muschamp but he’s bringing in impressive high character kids. I’d rather him build it right than go for quick fixes and questionable kids.

Im sure we disagree.

I agree with you that he won't play at Carolina and that's why if he were my son or in my family, I would recommend a transfer. The kid has never played any position other than QB and it would be ludicrous for him to stay and run gadget plays when he can go compete at some other school.

Some say he should change positions but that's easier said than done at the collegiate level. Most guys that convert has played other positions in HS. If he enters the transfer portal, he will be picked up.

I’m confused, are you mad at him?   Or mad at Muschamp?  What’s your point?

They were talking about him only feeling comfortable with like 9 plays or something during the telecast. I thought that was pretty disturbing and I don't know why they would be lying.

Doesn't seem like he's upset and his point was pretty clearly articulated. He thinks DJ would have a better chance to play qb at another school and if he was a family member or a friend he would share that advice with him. No idea why you're confused.

Am I mad? Mad about what? If you are confused, that's on you, can't help you with that.
My bad.   You said "it would be ludicrous for him to stay and run gadget plays "  I thought you were implying that he wasn't being used properly by the coaching staff, or that gadget plays is all he is good for.  Sorry, it came across critical and I didn't understand who you were being critical of.

I think he can do more than gadget plays but he needs to earn the trust of the coaching staff to throw the ball down field if he will ever be effective as a "wildcat QB".  He's just a first year player, so there is plenty of time.  I can see him being effective as both a slot WR and wildcat QB in time and think that is a better opportunity for him than transferring to a lesser program to be a fulltime QB.  Just my opinion.

I guess it depends on where he does best. Certainly lower level QBs get drafted and go on to have great nfl careers. Certainly slot receivers at power 5 schools do as well. He's just got to excel and it hasn't happened yet. Maybe Saturday

For some, it only happens on the field....and that means playing somewhere where you get that chance. I don't see where there's room for that at USC.

I can't predict the future, but it certainly hasn't happened

Not sure why evaluating Muschamp has so much about Joyner?

Also, several seem to forget; in HS Joyner played both sides of the ball. He was a good QB but he was an outstanding Safety. That is why other schools offered him that more than QB. What exactly did Bama and UGA offer? I don't know but several sports casters seem to think they wanted him to play safety. Supposedly, they did not consider him for a QB so he did not commit to them.

Back to the topic; I think one of the pros of Muschamp is that he will give a freshman a chance. He did it with Jake. Yes our other QB was not doing so good, but could have still played. He did not have to start Ryan. He had 2 other QB's with more than one game on the team, but he decided Ryan was the man.

One of the Cons; I think when medical says maybe, he plays them anyway. Some of our players just seem like they are still a little hurting.

Regardless of these next 3 games, I do not think Tanner will fire him. I really think he is here at least one more.

If he manages to win 2 more and get to a bowl, he probably has 2 more years.

I agree with you on just about all of this post.

FWIW Joyner is being discussed because Ace thinks that most of blame for CWM's inability to win games that he should needs to be placed on the play of his QBs. Others (including me) have contended that a coach (or CEO) is responsible for the play of their players (or work of their workers) especially when under-performing stretches beyond a single person and a pattern emerges.

I don’t see Muschamp surviving next year.  It’s another brutal schedule and if you look at the list of graduating players it’s not pretty.

Maybe he can win two of the last three and win a bowl game this year.  Perhaps that would buy enough goodwill to get through next year if they can keep from going 4-8 or worse.  But I just don’t think fans have patience to keep around a coach that’s backsliding in year 5.  If he can make it to year 6 I think he will have turned the corner by then but it’s hard seeing him surviving that long with the amount of growing frustration.

All most wanted this year was not to lose the games he should win. That's a pretty patient approach. I don't think we need 6 years of that

I also asked about Dak because he was being portrayed as someone who can make a difference for us and I asked what has anyone seen to come to that conclusion.
