Evaluating Muschamp tenure at the helm so far

What purpose would it serve to subject McClendon to a public ass beating on a call in show prior to the Clemson game?
The way our offense has looked this past couple games, somebody needs to beat him in hopes he will call the Clemson game differently. If he can't fix the Offensive moral, and get the O-line on board, we may run out of QB's

I'm fairly confident Bmac had his world explained to him prior to the ATM game behind closed doors.

He failed at ATM and now he has one last chance to redeem himself.

Am I suggesting that his job would be saved with a win? Probably not.

Most likely the difference for Bmac is between a quick and clean execution where he walks away with some modicum of dignity after a respectable offensive showing vs the taters,  or in the case of failure, kicked out the door to an awaiting mob armed with torches and pitchforks.

Speaking of QB's. I am becoming more and more convinced that Bently comes back next year.

If we get a new offensive coordinator, and Bentley plays, we will suck again on offense.  He's a good kid, and will make a great coach one day, but he's not a good QB in my opinion.  I can't remember who coined the phrase "Sail a Jake", but it was quite accurate.

Anything short of a new HC will just kick the can down the road. If he wins 6 next year, then the cry will be that he has made improvement but that would be an illusion. He is who some of us knew he was, a bad hire. Scapegoating coordinators and assistants is a joke.

This is the part about living in UGA country that I hate. We beat them, I brag, we digress and they excel. That's some tough shit.

It's a fine line between letting the coach go too early creating the revolving door that you fear versus letting the coach go too late and having recruiting plummet outing the next coach behind the eight ball creating a different type of bad cycle.
Don't forget a coach gets paid $$ to meet certain expectations. If he fails, he should be fired just like anyone else. Recruiting is irrelevant.

Some people, seem to act like its a volunteer position like Pop Warner.

How some think someone should continue to get paid millions to produce inferior is beyond me. It's business.

Recruiting is 50-60 percent of the game these days. Practically speaking, we can't afford to have another coach stay on after he can't do that part of the game

...and we can't worry about "losing recruits" due to a coaching change. If the coach has the mojo, the recruiting will take care of itself. Unfortunately, it doesn't work the other way around.

That is indeed one potential outcome.

Another scenario could be looking at the Clemson model where they went with stability, made a significant investment in an audit of what was working and not working, then made an even greater investment in correcting their deficiencies. That model worked out better than UF's model so far.
That only works if you have a head coach who is capable of being a CEO and remaining hands off. I'm not sold that Muschamp can do that. I think the best resolution is a new OC. Yes, it takes a few years to get all of their system together, but it can't be hard for a proven oc to average more than 20 ppg, which would = improvement. If the team still underperforms, then it's time to cut bait with Muschamp. I don't believe holding on to a guy for 5-6-7 years while "he gets his guys" and continues to be an embarrassment is going to encourage recruits to even consider the school.

Worst season since we were winless. Even had some hope then with Holtz. And as bad as Spurrier's last season was it wasn't this miserable. We're not even a fun team to watch. Our offense may be one of our worst ever. And with some of our best players leaving after this season, I don't see things getting better any time soon.

new coaches coming in can often get better play out of existing players than existing coaches. There is usually a "bump" effect just from new coaches alone.

THE STATE covers every angle possible to how this all could play out. After reading makes you want to kick back and think what is the best way to go.  I will give the 3 below.

Breaking down the scenarios for how this South Carolina football saga plays out. (VIEW FULL ARTICLE)

SCENARIO 4: WILL MUSCHAMP IS FIRED

What that looks like: Many fans have called for such an outcome, but in the end there are a few hurdles. First is the $19 million contact buyout that would drop by a few million at the end of next season. All indications are Athletics Director Ray Tanner believes in Muschamp and would like to see him get one more chance. (And no full-time USC coach has had fewer than five years since the 1930s.) How the Clemson game plays out could factor into the mood here, as could Muschamp’s own desire to go through a do-or-die season.

Confidence level it plays out this way: Possible by several avenues, but not super likely

SCENARIO 5: WILL MUSCHAMP STAYS, RAY TANNER MOVES ON

What that looks like: In a world where new school president Robert Caslen wanted to shake up all of athletics, this is how things would go. Many fans have called for changes at both spots, but were that to happen, an interim AD would be in charge of picking a football coach. This would have the order to facilitate a full shakeup if next year doesn’t go well. Caslen by all indications seems to like Tanner and stood by a public statement made last week.

Confidence level it plays out this way: Not very likely

SCENARIO 6: TANNER AND MUSCHAMP ARE BOTH SENT OFF

What that looks like: This would be dramatic and give a lot of angry folks that momentary burst of catharsis. And then it wouldn’t work. An AD couldn’t be hired that fast. A coach would be working for someone who didn’t hire him from the start. It would introduce a lot of instability that couldn’t be made stable quickly.

Confidence level it plays out this way: Deeply unlikely

Scott Frost at 2 just signed an extension with Nebraska. We should be second!
Mich St plays Rutgers and Nebraska, MD. Both should win their games knocking their coaches to 5 wins. Stay tuned! We might be #1 in something.

I guess you know that getting fired has its own momentum and it's definitely picking up.

On No 6 if you have your AD lined up hit the ground running. It could play out better then how the State tells it, especially if they are a step ahead with HC candidate's.

They aren’t firing Tanner.  They aren’t firing Muschamp.  Although Tanner may resign after the idiotic and undermining public comments being made by Caslen and BOT.  And I wouldn’t blame him.

Assuming Muschamp gets fired.... Just out of curiosity, what do you think the odds are that our next coach will make it to year 5?   I want to know a percentage.   Do you think it’s pretty good?  50/50?
