I think universities test players pretty poorly. This is certainly one of those ways. Players are expected to make four year commitments, but the University only makes a one year commitment to the students. I'm fine with players out coaches leaving.I think that some players certainly do.
I find it strange that people (not sts, but in general on social media) will bitch and moan about players opting out and not honoring their commitment to the team, then expect the head coach to just drop everything and break their commitment. Can't have it both ways.
Possibly bonuses?First question; Is he on the payroll yet?
Secondly, Kiffin left Alabama 2 weeks before NT game, IIRC, and bolted for Fl. Atl and he was the OC for Bama. What on God's green earth is so important for Beamer to finish out the season with OU?
He did, I am pretty sure he was upfront about it all the way around, he has a reputation as a straight shooter, and apparently Caslen is OK with it, so I am glad he is finishing out his commitment. He also commited to South Carolina...no?
If this gets confirmed (not questioning you feathers just saying things can easily change before they are officially announced), then I'll be in agreement. For more it's just message board charterTo me the fact that we are even having this conversation is not a good thing.
I'm not a fan of someone taking a vacation the first two weeks after the hire. It's usually a sign that I'm going to be fighting to keep them motivated in the job. That's just my personal experienceHe did, I am pretty sure he was upfront about it all the way around, he has a reputation as a straight shooter, and apparently Caslen is OK with it, so I am glad he is finishing out his commitment.
Students are in exam week so better off to let them focus on exams, he can talk to his staff on the phone and there are no face to face recruiting visits right now so it seems like a good time to finish up one commitment and begin the next.
yep, watching, ty for the reminderWatching his press conference right now for anyone interested.
yeah now that I would agree with that it is moot b/c he was upfront about it...as for the current players...I agree 100%...I am more concerned about recruiting and the hole we are in will take 100% effort to get out of...and that means IMO not spending time drawing up game plans for OU's final gamesHe did, I am pretty sure he was upfront about it all the way around, he has a reputation as a straight shooter, and apparently Caslen is OK with it, so I am glad he is finishing out his commitment.

Is working a 2 weeks notice considered a vacation? Especially if that 2 week notice is during a down time?I'm not a fan of someone taking a vacation the first two weeks after the hire. I agree! I now make my employees accrue leave lol b/c it irritates the crap out of meI'm not a fan of someone taking a vacation the first two weeks after the hire. It's usually a sign that I'm going to be fighting to keep them motivated in the job. That's just my personal experience
9 slots won't make or break the class IMO, and he can't do face to face so, his physical location is irrelevant. Personally, I think he will be better served working the portal.yeah now that I would agree with...as for the current players...I agree 100%...I am more concerned about recruiting and the hole we are in will take 100% effort to get out of
I don't think anyone that doesn't like beamer continuing to work for ou is talking about his physical location.9 slots won't make or break the class IMO, and he can't do face to face so, his physical location is irrelevant. Personally, I think he will be better served working the portal.

I don't care where he lives right now, but you can only serve one masterI don't recall a new head coach not transferring immediately to his new team. Did Kirby Smart stay with Alabama for the 2016 National Championship run?
I get it if you're moving to a new assistant role or a coordinator role, but imo head coach is different. If he was hired to be here, he should be here.
Exactlyit is not the physical location, it is the duties at his other job
I think he should either be here physically or working to get here physically, as well as have 100% of his attention focused on this program, but the latter is the primary concern. He's got coaches to hire and fire for starters.I don't think anyone that doesn't like beamer continuing to work for ou is talking about his physical location.
