Twitter: Beamer staying at Oky through championship game?

I saw somewhere that the NCAA has suspended the W-L record requirement for bowl game invitations this season due to Covid.

Loss of revenue is a serious concern this year and probably next season as well.   If the SEC requires us to play in a bowl game, then I think Beamer needs to coach the bowl game for us.

Fire TRob, install an interim, and coach the bowl game if we have one.

we will get national exposure when OK is on TV somewhere there will mention Beamer and gamecocks. maybe even a 1/2 time feel good story

I think there is a good bit of this.

I personally have always offered to work a notice when turning in a resignation, and have always honored that commitment.  And apparently, both parties (U of O and USC) are good with the situation.  Apparently lead by example and commitment to players is only a desired trait when it benefits our fanbase.  Honor and leadership is great when it costs us nothing, but when it is the least bit inconvenient, than it becomes unimportant.
On the nose, FurmanCock.
Beamer is honoring his commitment, and is demonstration outstanding character to his players at OU, and his new players at Carolina. We crapped on Spurrier for quitting mid season, and to the argument of firing Muschamp mid season, he was compensated handsomely. I applaud Coach Beamer for his actions. I wish he was going to be in Columbia from now on, but it is what it is, and it’s not the end of the world, especially with the transfer portal. He would be a hypocrite if he left OU now, and then preached family, commitment, and dedication to Carolina players.

Watching the presser now. I gotta say I've changed my tune on this. I think it will be fine. Sounds like Tanner and Linclon Riley are on board with it, and they have worked it out.

Just watched the presser.  It was like a shorter version of the grueling 5-hour job interview.  Beamer's gotta get that stuff out of the way first.

If the SEC pressured us to play in a bowl game and Beamer sensed the team needed him, my gut tells me he would probably change his mind and coach the bowl game after he let it sink in for a while.

Yeah I was way less worried after I watched the presser.

Hi , The fans at S.C. Just might as well get ready to brace themselves take an deep breath, as I have stated before they got the right man to help turn this program around again an just maybe for all, but being around some Carolina Boosters they think their God, they need to get what they want and when  some  coaches believe it or not have integrity, and are going to do what they say no matter who they piss off.  The season is over for Carolina and he  has an job left to do in Sooner country, being an gamecock for over 45 years and alumni  I don't get it . Let the man finish he is recruiting for Carolina, this might just help us if Oklahoma were to have 1 or 2 that wanted to enter the portal he might could get those guys to come here. Think about it guys he's working the system.   Go Cocks

You don't get why USC fans want their head coach fulfilling the duties of their head coach?

When has a person been hired as a head coach and continued working their duties at their old job?  I'm seriously looking for examples.  I know at Bama that's why they plugged in Kiffin.  I don't think Kirby Smart stuck around either after being hired at Georgia. It seems like it's unusual NOT to start a new gig right away from what I can find, but I'm open to someone giving examples.  It also seems to me that with the advent of the early signing period that only makes it more imperative that he be focused on the task at hand.

And spare me with the "he's honoring his commitment" spin.  That's positively eyerolling.

How can he lecture on commitment and then leave a school he is still under contract with?

The board has not finalized his contact yet, should he work on good faith while backing out of an existing contract?

FYI kirby stayed at Bama and Kiffen stayed for the quart final and was let go by Saban before the NC. Infact Kirby said essentially the same thing:

"It's very important to me that I finish the right way over there," Smart said. "A lot of the young men playing for the University of Alabama I sat in their homes three, four, five years ago and convinced them to come to the University of Alabama. I don't think it'd be doing justice to turn and walk away from those kids."

hey, all I can is that you tell young men to do the right thing all the time, not only is he the head Coach at South Carolina  he has to try and be an role model for these kids today. When you say something I mean right or wrong it's too easy for people to just walk away today for monies.  He can truly walk in an home and say to the parents hey look I am here for the long haul, I finished my stint at Oklahoma before coming here  he is from the old school an handshake an look you in the eye tell you something type of guy, I , mean the fans just need to get ready for that they have not seen an coach with that kind of integrity snice Steve was here.  I had an 5 star kid call me the other day and ask me about Carolina, and I told him go where you fell at home not because I want you there do what you know is right about you. That is what I feel the Beamer family is about integrity of the game.  At the end of the day they will judge him on wins and the games he loses.   Right now he's still trying to help some young men he promised and he knows he will take heat for it. They have coaches that can recruit right now most kids have made their minds up anyway.  They are just looking for someone they can trust I know  I was one of those kids that played college ball.  The coach is just an man the school; is where these kids need to find themselves.

There's a sincerity there that is rare ... and will pay off big time with players and recruits IMO.
Completely true. I don't think he really addressed how he's going to be his best at the job while working another. But his answer is the same as people on here were saying before the news conference. I take that as an indication of consistent messaging. That is good but it doesn't actually make it possible to serve two masters.

(personally, complaining about a 5 hour interview is a joke. in my world, interviews go for days for 14-16 hours each day.)

All this negative aside, He's got a great personality and I can see him being good at recruiting. I love his attention to detail and back story. His success will only be limited by his ability to coach the talent that he attracts.
