What should our response be if Russia invades Ukraine?

Some of you are so blinded by your hate of Trump that you are not in reality. We cannot kiss A$$ so everyone likes us. Zelensky tried to play hardball on his negotiation and figured we would cave like we did the last 4 years and found out differently a now is backpedaling and ready to negotiate. I wonder where all this outrage was when we had Cartel openly trafficking children across our southern border and taking over apartment complexes. I for one am done paying for this crap. Ukraine cannot win so it is time to negotiate.

A word salad followed up with a Venn diagram?
Some of it may have been because he was having to speak English, but Zelensky was also speaking in word salads if you paid attention to it.

No plan for victory and after 3 years, Putin has shot his wad, too.

However, I also believe Europe has to get more firmly behind Ukraine for there to be a lasting peace. Starmer and Macron have to take the lead now.

Yeah, he should have dressed appropriately, too. Everybody gets the reasoning behind the paramilitary clothing by now, but he should have dressed the part.

I mean he could have shown up dressed like Elon Musk. You can say Zelenskyy shouldnt have brought up the history of how untrustworthy Russia is so how can anyone be sure they wont break any agreement made when they werent behind closed doors, but it certainly didnt merit an attempt to shout him down and call him ungrateful. When a reporter asked Trump what if Russia breaks a ceasefire, what on earth was that response?

“What if anything? What if a bomb drops on your head right now? What if they break it? I don’t know, they broke it with [former US President Joe] Biden, because Biden... [Russia doesn’t] respect him. They didn’t respect [former US President Barrack] Obama,” Trump said. “They respect me,” Trump added.
“Let me tell you, Putin went through a hell of a lot with me, he went through a phony witch-hunt, when they used him and Russia… Russia, Russia, Russia.

Zelenskyy had a good interview on fox news afterwards. He said Trump openly stated that he wanted to be in the middle otherwise he will not put these guys at the table and when asked if he was right Zelenskyy said he wish he was more on his side considering his country was the one that was invaded.

The US is on the cusp of abdicating our 80 yr legacy of being the "arsenal of democracy". Russians are rejoicing. It will cost us.
Legacy conservatives like Eisenhower, Nixon, & Reagan are turning in their graves.
We have forgotten the tyranny of the Nazis and the Soviets.
Europe cannot forget.
Didnt that start in 2014..

I find the entire narrative that Russia & Putin is somehow the good guy and Zelinski is corrupt, ungrateful, dictator just disturbing and revolting.

This is a shit show…eu supports ukraine yet buys energy from russia…nato has been largely on ameircan shoulders and i would like to see some of our allies take up the fight as opposed to playing both sides…zelensky is in a no win situation…nato and us allowed russianto annex crimea without effprt to stop amd when you give a mouse a cookie…

trump needs to check his massive ego and realize what hangs in the balance amd zelensky needs to understand that being an ally is a two way street…the previous administration tried backing him financially only to watch the war become a literal meat grinder a la ww1…at some point peace must occur unless we want to send troops there is no way ukraine wins and is made whole…the problem will be putins ambition and only complete isolation of russia can lead to victory…of course that means the eu cutting off russian support as well as china (but that aint happening)…we have turned our backs on ukraine before but this time is different….guess romney was correct all those years ago

I think that obviously the fault lies at the feet of putin But what is your suggestion at this point? Sending our children to war? Economic sanctions? I truly am asking bc i wonder what the end game is for people who reject peace at this point…i have no idea but i think ww3 is inevitable amd the thought of putins hand on nukes is frightening as hell…and not to mention the chinese laying in wait

It is coming out as propaganda or because it can now be reported why Russia is in Dombass and Crimea... these are the stories I was called a communist for talking about when this thread was in it's infancy, they were deleted 🙄 because no way Ukraine was killing Russian speaking folks in those regions that were complaining or that we had also broke the agreement to not move East because these were free people. I must be a communist for even reading these stories...🙄 This has quickly become a Iran, Iraq situation because neither is truly our ally as it is hard to tell the difference in Russia and Ukraine because Ukraine was once the capital of Russia a short time ago and We, the US set up Ukraine and we have only been a country for 10 generations...

You really think trump read the art of war?

There are no dirty pictures of women in the entire book! I doubt he read it!

Maybe they put an excerpt in Playboy once
Someone posting on an internet forum telling us how dumb our President is, you probably told us how broke he was before telling us he is a Billionaire 🙄 You probably told us he would never get reelected, would go to jail- did you see the NY appellate judge laugh at the lawyers in his fraud case? I know he read the Art of War, I've read Trumps books on business and negotiations, here he is quoting it on Twitter

I don't think you have read it!

I don't think that is the narrative I try to pass, they can both be corrupt, they can both be nice, they are humans!
What is the narrative you would find comfortable?

My suggestion would be to follow the same plan we have used for over 75 years to avoid war with Russia. (NATO was founded in 1949). Align with our European friends to be collectively safe and secure from Russian aggression and tyranny.

But President Musk doesnt want that! So we attack our friends and embrace our enemies instead

this white house is a joke

His response was brass but the question is loaded, how would you respond? His response is not wrong, do we not try for peace, do we believe he is alone in breaking his promises? What is the end game,?

Three views, the current view, the view had Harris won and the view that they are all working together- meaning Biden/Harris just qued it up for Trump...

Umm…our european allies are directly supporting russia…they are playing both sides of the fence while we fund Ukraine as they are slaughtered…i think it is a pipe dream that we are not drawn in at some point as ceding territory began over a decade ago…i guess the actual lives of only the ukrainians hang in the balance under your plan but would keep us from all out war

They are reliant on Russia for petroleum because they went green without any planning for their future. To your point they are hardly acting like allies st this point. We have funded NATO for years and when Trump ask them to pay their share, the liberals all freak out that they won't be our friends anymore.

Putin is certainly the bad guy but I also believe that Ukraine and Zelensky are plenty corrupt as well. Also if you refuse to hold elections doesn't that in fact make you a dicrator?

I was involved in several NATO exercises during my time in the Army. Specifically Reforger '85 and Reforger '87. I also was involved in NATO logistics in the mid '90's in Germany.

We (USA) funded the vast majority of the training exercises by supplying large amounts of diesel fuel, ammo and transportation among other things.

Also in Germany (not sure about the other NATO members) when we went to the field for training exercises (which was often) the German equivalent of DNR officers were always there ready, willing and able to write us up for knocking this tree down or knocking some bark off of those trees etc and charging the Army for the "damage" done.

I don’t know if there are any good options. I just feel like Putin is not going to stop until he’s dead or overthrown. Neither likely anytime soon.

Even if some kind of deal is made, Putin will just regroup for a couple of years and then try again, maybe someplace else. Maybe that’s better than an endless ground war. Hard to say.

I’m no foreign policy expert.

Yeah, Trump flaps all over the place sometimes. Putin is not a good guy and Zelensky is not necessarily corrupt, but others in Ukraine may be.

I do think both Zelensky and Putin may be in danger of military coups in the coming year or so because that's the way most of these things go.
