Evaluating Muschamp tenure at the helm so far

Quarterback play has been a consistent area where champ coached teams need to improve. Acknowledging that he's the consistent variable is only bitching if you think so little of the man you don't think he can ever improve. I'm just far more bullish on him
LOL.  You guys realize that there are only about 5 Quarterbacks in all of college football that their fans are completely happy with.  I guess there’s about 115 coaches that should be fired.

Muschamp has done VERY well at the QB position.   Just take a look around the SEC and other schools quarterback situations. Let’s not be stupid here.

It is evident to me Muschamp has taken over the defense play calling.
This is ridiculous.  He’s not calling plays.

They’re just fitting teams better with the personnel they have.  They figured out they could match up with Georgia and Kentucky man-to-man which allowed us to put Sherrod Greene in the box for run support.  That’s pretty much it.

To all of y'all that want to blame Coach Muschamp for everything that happens - be it good or bad this season - please get a grip on your emotions.  We beat a team (GA) that is superior to us in overall talent.  The reason that we beat them for the most part is that they made more turnovers than we did and we play pretty darn good when we had too.  Some of you on this post just want to "continue to blow hot air and get your post totals moved up a notch each time you spit forth your constant blame the coaching staff crap".  We won the darn game and for the vast majority of you whining -  cry-babies - just deal with it and move on and be proud to be a Gamecock for once this season!!!

It's way past time for this post to end.

Well if these guys keep "falling into our lap", seems you don't think much of Muschamp's alleged recruiting prowess.
Jake came here because Bobby came here. If Bobby hadn’t joined the staff here we may or may not have signed him.

Hilinski was a stroke of luck. Roper had a prior connection, and his family was wanting a fresh start.

We still had to recruit him. Every team gets lucky now and then with a recruit.

If you can’t look at the recruiting work that Muschamp is putting in and give him props then you’re either a hopeless hater or you’re lying.

Some people just can't stop bitching and arguing after the biggest win this program has had in years. Let's lay off and enjoy the victory this week. There will be plenty of more opportunities for you guys to bitch and moan about everything after the next time we lose a game.

Yes, mad props to Boom and the way the D played. It took him time to get the talent, experience and depth in place, but now we are seeing the results. Boom has always been able to coach D , and now that the talent level is up, we are starting to see it.

Boom is way down the list of coaches working with the QBs, following Werner, BMac, even Bobby Bentley. Werner is a proven QB guru, so Boom got the right guy, Boom should get some credit and some blame but it is much fairer to criticize Boom when the D plays bad, since that is his focus and area of expertise.

If Bentley or Hilinski or Joyner have a bad game or a bad throw, or they get hurt (which has happened to all three this year) and we lose a game as a result - is that all on Boom?

I get that Boom is the guy recruiting the QBs. But he has brought in 3 4* QBs with a 4th committed, And up until halftime of the  Akron game, we had pretty good QB play. The QB play has been lacking, but Boom is doing a good job of addressing the issue.
He's definitely not responsible for injuries during games unless he leaves an already hurt player in the game. He's probably some what responsible for injuries during practices when he chooses to practice with contact. Either you think he's ultimately responsible for the team's play (including the QBs) during games or you should want a new head coach. Leaders take responsibility for their followers, good ones do at least

I didn't love hiring Bentley to get Jake but you've gotta give props to champ for bringing in QB talent.

Completely agree champ deserves a lot of credit for the wins and the losses. He made up for former mistakes with a great win. I'm hoping he keeps the defense dialed in and praying that rh is healthy at the beginning and end of the Florida game

Implying a player "fell into our lap" is not giving "props" to Muschamp for his recruiting abilities. Maybe you didn't read your own comments?

The only thing that matters is can Muschamp find ways to win. The past 2 weeks have been promising.

We needed some hope and we certainly got it.  :animated-applause-smiley-imagesmall:

Hilinski’s performances have a lot to do with the defenses he’s playing.  Nobody want to give Missouri credit.  That’s the best defense in the Sec.  Alabama’s defense is barely middle of the pack.  There’s a reason he has been up and down.  Just go look up SEC defensive stats.
Agree.

Pass defense: Mizzou, Bama & UGA are all in the top 25.  UF is no slouch.

I’m curious, what exactly is your problem?

Its not really up for debate that Jake fell into our lap, he decided to follow his Dad here.

Its not really up for debate that Ryan fell into our lap, our former OC was familiar with him and his family because he’d recruited his brother. But we still had to recruit him. There’s almost always an element of luck when it comes to recruiting, sometimes things just go against you, sometimes the piece should just fit together.

The team as a whole is improving talent wise, due to some hard recruiting under difficult conditions. I’m certainly giving him props for the hard work he and the staff have put in.

You’re an awfully negative guy. What was your posting name on Cockytalk?

What does recruits "falling into our lap" have to do with Muschamp's tenure here?

Do you realize that in spite of facing superior talent last Saturday that Will Muschamp outcoached Smart in Athens, GA? Are you willing to give Muschamp credit for finding a way to win? Or are you still spinning all this recruiting trivia that showed out to be irrelevant on Sat?

Muschamp can continue to recruit his ass off and maybe one day catch up to teams like UGA, but it's game day coaching that wins games when it matters. If people don't get that after what happened on Sat, then they are just in denial.

Joyner was actually offer to play at NC State, Va Tech and a few others. Clemson was one who drew a line at Athlete. Don 't make stuff up.
This idea that Dak Joyner wasn't offered any top jobs...YET...had  an offer from NC State is hilarious to me. There is quite simply no other program in the country that produces more elite QB talent than NC State. They literally have more active QB's in the NFL than any other program in the country...Phillip Rivers...Russell Wilson...Jacoby Brissett...are all starters. Mike Glennon has been a starter and still could be for a number of teams and Ryan Finley who just left SHOULD be the starter for the Bengals as I type this.

They have more starters in the league today than SC has ever produced and Gamecock fans are trying to discount an NC State offer to play QB as some kind of indication that people who knew better never thought he could play at this level.

I guess the bottom line is that we will see but this kind of  feels more like some recruiting 'guru' once questioned something or another and some people drank it in as something akin to the truth

I'm not talking about his ability to recruit QBs but rather his ability to coach/develop them. Definitely an address he needs to get better at.

Unlike guys like you, Iron, Spork, and a few others here I’ve been firmly in Muschamps corner the whole time.

i fully agree we had an outstanding coaching job, and the players responded very well to adversity.

Stop trying to spin your previous posts, like Iron you’re trying to smooth over the crap you previously posted.

Just admit you were overly harsh and move on. Still waiting on what your Cockytalk posting name was....

You certainly have been blindly loyal. I'm happy he's won two in a row and would love to see him make it three. I also think it's fair to be upset with him after the UNC and Missouri loses. Mostly I don't understand how any of that's controversial or why folks keep making comments with my name in then while talking to others.
